"Rei, you can't be serious," Vik argued as she followed Rei into her room. After coming up with the idea to form a guild in Lotus, she had stopped inside the hospital to ask River what happened. After River explained her story, Rei asked what she thought of Lotus having a guild. All Rei needed was to see the bright smile on River's face and a word of confirmation before she told her to get better and ran off. Vik ran after her and was now following Rei around as she grabbed a backpack and started filling it.
"Honestly, I don't think it's a bad idea," Sky said, hovering in the air above Rei's bed where Rei was setting things she would put in her bag. "If we can't get any other guilds to deal with our problem, then we'll get a guild of our own."
"Sky, don't encourage her!" Vik exclaimed. "You're supposed to be the reasonable one!"
Rei looked up from her bag and turned to Vik, "Vik, think about it, I'll be gone for maybe a month or two, and when I come back, we'll have a guild to protect the town from those dark wizards."
Vik frowned and looked concerned, "But, Rei... I just... If you leave, what are we gonna do here on our own? And how are you gonna manage on your own for that long? You're not exactly that responsible."
"Hey! You know that's not true!" Rei retorted with a huff, crossing her arms. "I'm responsible when it counts and you know that."
"Besides, she'll have me with her," Sky added, also crossing her arms.
"But still..." Vik muttered, trailing off.
"Listen, Vik," Rei started, grabbing Vik by her shoulders. "I'll be fine. I've always wanted to go explore Fiore and this is the prefect time to do that. I won't even be gone for that long. It's not like I'd be on my own either. I'll have Sky and anyone else I meet on the way. You don't have to worry about me."
Vik took a long, deep breath. After a minute she nodded, "I know you'll be fine. And I know we'll be fine while you're gone. I'm just worrying over nothing. That's what mothers do." Rei smiled and Vik smiled back before continuing. "Just think this over a little bit more. Plan out your travel route. I know you're not gonna want to take any trains, but Era is pretty much on the other side of Fiore, so if you don't want to spend forever on this trip, you're gonna have to take the train."
"Yeah, I know," Rei grumbled with a huff, the thought of having to ride any vehicle killing her spirits for an instant. But it was back a second later. "But I'll want to walk through a ton of towns and stuff to see if I can find people who want to join. It's not like I'm gonna want to ride the train straight there."
Vik sighed, "Whatever you say. Make sure you talk with Mayor Walters and Kaleb about you leaving. And at least wait till tomorrow, ok?"
"Yeah, I got it," Rei replied with a smile. Vik let out another sigh before walking out of Rei's room
"So you're really committing to this, huh?" Sky said, finally landing on Rei's bed and sitting down.
Rei nodded, "Yeah. I've actually thought about joining a guild before; when Caden left. But I didn't want to just leave Lotus as it is. There's not exactly a lot of strong wizards here and they're all gonna leave our town for some better place with a guild. I mean, the only thing we seem to have going for us is the nice view of the ocean. And I don't think wizards looking for jobs really care that much about that. But either way, it's not like I'm doing this super impulsively. I've been thinking about it for a while. I mean, if there's not a guild around here for me to join, then I'll just make one."
"I suppose that's true," Sky mumbled with a sigh. "Well, either way, this is a big deal. Don't just treat it like something you can move on from when you get bored of it."
"I'm not going to!" Rei retorted. "Trust me, I'll make a great guild leader."
"Wait, you're going to become the guild master?" Sky questioned, earning a confused look from Rei. "I thought you'd find someone more qualified to do that."
"I am qualified!" Rei exclaimed defensively. "I'm strong and I'm the one who's gonna be founding the guild. Why would I give it to someone else to run?"
"Well, you don't exactly seem like the type to run a guild. And you know that you won't be able to go on jobs as the guild master? Maybe a few, but not really."
Rei huffed, "Of course I know that. Trust me, I'll make a great guild master."
"You'll have to remember people by their names, not their magic," Sky replied.
"Learning their magic first is more useful. If you're fighting someone, it's better to know their magic, not their name." Rei resonded, only earning a sigh from Sky. "Anyways, I thought you agreed this was a good idea."
Sky shrugged, "I think it's a good idea for dealing with the dark wizards, but that doesn't mean I can't criticize it."
"Whatever," Rei mumbled before she closed her bag and set it next to her door for later. "Let's go talk to Walters and Kaleb."
"I'm right behind you," Sky said, her wings appearing and her flying beside Rei as she walked out of the house.
-Author Note-
We're gonna ignore how much time I spent trying to figure out the locations of everything while I was writing this chapter. I spent at least 30 minutes on google staring at the same three maps of Fiore and I still don't know if I have the locations of things right, but I'm going with it. Also, a quick little note, I don't know the actual process for forming legal guilds and I don't think that's ever talked about, so I'm kinda gonna make stuff up based on what I do know. And with that being said, if you haven't noticed, this story is also gonna contain all original characters and there's most likely only ever going to be references to Fairy Tail and the characters from the anime, so there's that too.
The amount of research I did for this story is the most I've done I think for any story I've written so far and it was all pretty much a waste of time. But oh well. I hope you enjoyed the chapter and have a great day!
