JAMES' P.O.V:
I didn't move. How could I, after this random dude just dropped the "I'm your father" bomb. God, is this how Luke felt in Star Wars?
I must've had a horrified look on my face, because Shane laughed. "You're taking this better than your brother did. I actually had him under lock and key for a while; he busted up a few of my guards and actually dropped one off in the middle of the ocean."
This can't be happening. My father's dead. He's not real. "You're not my father!" I snarled, rage pumping through me. "You're lying!"
I stood up, but in a flash, Bryson had me pinned on the floor. "Easy, brother. It's true. He's the real deal."
"And why should I trust you, huh? All you've ever done is lie to me!" I kicked at his leg, but his grip didn't relax.
"All I've ever done is protect you!" Bryson roared, flinging me across the room. "And you've just sat there, moping like a baby. Felicia this, Felicia that. Grow up!"
I pulled myself up and winced as small drops of blood pooled on the floor. I gongerly touched my bleeding head and tried to focus on my brother.
Shane watched us, amusement sparkling in his black eyes.
"You bastard!" I yelled at Bryson. "You've never done anything for anyone but yourself! You're willing to risk millions of innocent lives, just so you can feel free in the world?! What the hell is the matter with you?!" I spat.
His face twitched and two seconds later I was skidding across the floor, my ribs aching.
"I'm tired of being called out, James. Being labeled as 'the Freak'. I could never do ANYTHING in the world, for fear someone would find out my secret. Well, I'm done running. I'm done listening to everyone else talk shit about me behind my back."
"I understand, James. I'm in the same-"
"No you DON'T!" he screamed and grabbed me by my collar. Slamming me against the wall, he stared at me with all his hate and anger. "You don't understand at all. Your ability has always been so easy to hide. Mine, on the other hand, isn't. I can't play any sports, run in competitions, or do ANYTHING AT ALL!" He shook me, a mad look in his eyes.
I stared back at my brother, hoping to find some trace of him left. "Bryson. You're my brother. Please, don't do this." I knew I was grasping at straws, but I wasn't going to lose my only brother. "He's not our dad. He could never be."
"Don't say that!" He screamed, his voice cutting into a sob at the end.
"The pattern isn't right, Bryson. Please, just listen to-"
Suddenly, I couldn't speak. My mouth felt like it was glued shut. I glanced at Shane, and saw him holding two fingers in the air. "Silent."
My blood froze. This guy definitley wasn't our father. Bryson released me and I slumped to the groud. Shane let his hands drop and I quickly wiped my mouth, feeling a little violated.
