- Dylan POV -

It was getting dark out, and it was cold...
We were stuck in Kaitlyn's car right next to a huge field while it was raining. This is totally how horror movies start.

Kaitlyn called the towing company and they said they would arrive in about 4 hours, they were quite busy. It must have been from all the crashes happening in the pouring rain.

"Fuck." Kaitlyn groaned as she set her phone down.

"What? Huh?" I turned back to Kaitlyn.

"No signal anymore, I can't receive updates or anything from the towing company. Guess we'll just have to wait... it's too far of a walk to the nearest house."

"Damn it." Ryan mumbled and shoved his face into his hands. I looked over and gave him a pat on the shoulder and smiled. He looked up at me and smiled back.

I could feel my face heating up and looked away. Kaitlyn looked back at us.

"Well, we're all bored, so... you both wanna sit in the back of the car with me, we can watch the stars... or... whatever."

Kaitlyn hops out of the car and opens her trunk, it was surprisingly very spacious back there. Ryan and I get out of the car and follow Kaitlyn back. She points to the car and grabs a large box from the trunk.

"Ay, look, I saved some blankets and granola for emergencies like this." Kaitlyn took the blankets and tossed one to me and Ryan. We all sat down in the trunk together and looked at the constellations. It started raining, more, and more...

It had only been about two hours and they were freezing.

"Okay, well... I'm going to get some rest" Ryan takes the blanket into the car and closes his eyes in the back seat.

"Bye Dyl, I'm quite tired too. You should get some rest." Kaitlyn pats me on the shoulder and hops into the driver's seat and falls asleep almost instantly.

I sigh. I back up a bit in the trunk and wrap my blanket around me more. I hated the rain, ever since that night at Hackett's Quarry. I didn't want to get into the car though, what if the towing company came and no one was awake?

I must stay up. Even if it means pulling an all nighter. I could feel my eyes sting from being tired. I just knew how tired the others must have been, they even got up earlier than me.

I grab my phone and check the time. 8:34 PM... it wouldn't be so late to me if I actually got sleep last night.

"Ugh... damn it." I set my phone down. We still had about two hours before the towing company's expected time. I suppose I could take a little nap...

I pick up my things and quietly get into the back seat. I take my shoes off and leave them on the ground. Cuddled up in my blanket, I huddle into the opposite corner of Ryan and try to sleep.

I could hear the rain pouring on the car, I hated that sound. After the Hackett's Quarry incident, being in the rain was horrible, it made me think of every time I was left out in the dark with the rain and blood covering my body. Nothing would ever be the same.

9:26 PM

- Ryan POV -

I wake up to see Dylan asleep in the corner of the car seat. Kaitlyn is still asleep in front of me. I picked my phone up. The brightness hurt my eyes. I blinked a few times and saw there was still no signal.

I sighed and out my phone back down. I looked to my right and saw Dylan still asleep. He was really cute...

Wait... What the fuck... Cute? I shunned myself for staring at Dylan in his sleep AND calling him cute. Dylan's eyes fluttered open and I quickly looked the other way.

"Staring?" Dylan sat up, his voice was shaky.

"Oh.. uh.." I got flustered and stared down at the floor of the car.

"Hey, it's alright, I know sometimes I can be too hot to handle." Dylan smirks and rubs his eyes. I gulped and looked back up at him.

Call me insane, but I swore he was blushing. I knew Dylan flirted a bit with me but I thought it was just banter and a bit of fun. He couldn't like me, could he?

"Hey, Ryan, it's getting really cold..." Dylan frowns and hugs his knees.

"Dude... it's not even that cold!" I looked at Dylan with confusion. His eyes were glossy and he looked paler than usual.
"Hey, uhm, hold on.. one second." I put the back of my hand up to his head. Burning.

"What?" Dylan looks at me and furrows his brow.

"Woah! Dude, you're burning up. We really need to get you back home. It's bad for you to stay out here."

"I'm sure... uh... I'm sure it's not that bad... I mean, just a little cold, probably." Dylan pulls more of his blanket towards him and huddles up in it.

"Dylan, dude, come here." I scoot over to Dylan and hug him. My arm was wrapped around his neck and he buried his face into my shoulder. I felt horrible for him. It was obvious he didn't feel well.

"Ryan... I really don't feel good." Dylan relaxes into my embrace.

"I know, I know... just hey, get some rest and I'll wake you up when we have to, okay?"

"Thanks..." Dylan's voice got more shakey and he let go of me, looking at me. His cheeks were red, really red... maybe it was just from his sickness?

Someone like Dylan, funny, outgoing, and extroverted could never like me. I was insane. But that's not what I had to worry about. Dylan was sick. I needed to care for him. All feelings pushed aside for once.

Cutting my train of thought, I felt a slight pressure on my thighs. Dylan... he had rested his head on my thighs while I was thinking about certain things.

I took his blanket and spread it out around him. He was so cute cuddled in his blanket with his head on my lap.

I was flustered, so flustered I didn't know what to do. My whole body heated up. I took my hand and started playing with his hair. I saw a smile creep onto his face as I kept playing with his hair. It was so soft, and fluffy.

God... I love this boy
