The Quarry - Aftermath - Rylan

17 ~ Wedding

-time skip, 2 weeks-

- Dylan POV -

"Oh fuck, oh fuck! Everyone is waiting for me... even my mom! Shit, shit, shit!" I mumbled to myself, struggling to put the suit on I picked out. Today was the day of the wedding, and I was going to make the bride late!

If I was going to be honest, I still wasn't the happiest about me not knowing Gabriel very well, and him and my mother getting married right now. But my mother's happiness is what matters.

From the texts in the group chat, everyone else was ready. Surprisingly, even Laura and Max were invited. They were showing up in their own car though.

Somehow the group was going to fit everyone into Kaitlyn's car. Two in the front, three in the middle seat, three in the back... I assume. That is, if Jasmine was allowed to come. Kaitlyn was supposed to invite her, but I didn't know if she was able to.

I heard my mom enter the taxi outside out house, she was on her way to the wedding, it was held at a small park with a gazebo, not the one close to our house. It was around 45 minutes away. Apparently, not like I would know, but thats where Gabriel asked my mom to be his girlfriend.

I let out a sigh while I put some fancy shoes on and sprinted for the door. I saw Kaitlyn's car, stuffed with people. I walked up to the car and knocked on the window, startling a few of my friends.

"Dyl, we thought you'd never come out!" Emma shouted when I opened the door and sat in the middle seat.

"Where's Ryan?" I turn my attention towards Kaitlyn.

"Uhhhh-" Kaitlyn chuckles.

I was a bit confused, Ryan wasn't here, where was he? Oh no, did he not have anyone to watch Sarah? Damn it...

My thoughts were interrupted by a hug around my neck. Oh. There he was! Ryan was just behind me, and I couldn't see him.

"Ryan!" I said, with a huge grin on my face.

"Hey Dyl, you excited?"

"Kind of, but also nervous." Ryan and I talked together and everyone else started their own conversations while Kaitlyn started driving.

"Oh, yeah, same. I've never gone to a wedding before, but I do gotta admit, you look pretty cute in a suit." Ryan whispered into my ear.

My face was bright red as I looked behind my seat at him.

"I could say the same!" I tried to hide my embarrassed face, which apparently everyone noticed and started laughing.

I looked up towards the front seats, two people holding hands, that being Kaitlyn and Jasmine. Kaitlyn had one hand on the wheel, and one hand on Jasmine's.

They were such a cute couple, one badass, and one also badass, but shy girl.

Jasmine was dressed in a pale blue dress, it had tiny little yellow flowers on it. I couldn't see her shoes from here, but the rest of her outfit was nice.

Emma was dressed in a light yellow dress, with a some black doc-martens. Abi was sitting right next to Emma, she had a light green dress on, which was strapless. She wore white sneakers, with some white fishnets.

Abi had gotten a new tattoo since the last time I'd seen her, a little scenery on her right ankle. It was a wolf howling by a full moon. How fitting...!

Jacob and Nick had matching suits, simple, but cute. A normal black suit with white accents.

Nick had fallen asleep with his head rested on the window, which Jacob maneuvered his head onto his own shoulder so it wouldn't be so uncomfortable.

Kaitlyn was in the same suit I helped her pick out, and I wore the one she helped me pick out.  She had her signature bee earrings in, she like, never took those off.

Then there was Ryan, he could probably wear anything and I would think he'd look good in it.

Okay... maybe not anything...

But he wore a black suit with dark red accents, and some silver bracelets on his arm. He looked really good in this outfit. Which he could tell I thought because I was staring at him, mouth gaped open.

"Dylan, Dylan, Dylan!" Abi squirmed in her seat to look at me.

"Yeah, Abi?"

"Look!" Abi handed me her sketchbook, which had a tiny black ribbon marking her last page she drew on.

I flipped to the last page. It was a drawing of Ryan, resting his head on my shoulder! It was so awesome, I couldn't even believe it!

"Abi, holy shit, this is so good!"

"Thank you so much, it took a bit."

"You're very talented, if I do say so myself."

"Ehh, I mean, I'm not that good. But thank you." Abi took the sketchbook back when I handed it to her.

"Abi, you're the best, don't tell yourself otherwise." Emma wrapped her arms around Abi's shoulders, hugging her tightly. Abi melted in Emma's arms, contently smiling.

"Aaaaand we're here, folks!" Kaitlyn called out, her car taking a rough stop, awaking Nick, who's been asleep for the whole ride.

"Yay!" Emma called out, opening her door and helping Abi out. Everyone got out of the car and started walking to the seats, which were nicely arranged.

Gabriel and my mother were having a small wedding, but a huge after party.

"Here we are, Ry." I grabbed Ryan's hand for comfort and took a deep breath.

"Hey, it's alright, look, there's not many people here. We can choose our seats right next to each other."

Everyone had arrived, more people than I actually expected. The group was huddled up into the top, right corner of the seats. Laura and Max arrived shortly after all of us, so they took a seat near us.

The crowds were chatting loudly, elated for the marriage.

As soon as I knew it, I heard the familiar words, "I do."

I didn't know it, but a tear was flowing down my face. Ryan wiped it away with his thumb, leaning his head on my shoulder.

I looked around at the rest of the group. Happy. Everyone was happy.

A/N: I'm so sorry that this wasn't as long as it should have been. I honestly do not know how weddings work, AT ALL. I've never been to one or even seen one.

I think there is gonna be one more chapter, an ending chapter. It'll be short, but sweet. As you can see my writing and plots have gotten significantly worse because I don't quite have any ideas, so I've decided to end the book after one more chapter.
