It's been a few days since getting your job and you've realized how stressful it can be to juggle college and work. However, you didn't want to quit considering the fact that you had been secretly paying some of the rent on Steve's apartment. You felt bad just living there without paying for anything even though he said it was better that way. You knew he was somewhat old fashioned, always the provider and protector which you liked but you still wanted to help out someway.

"Ma'm, I'm sorry but you can only return purchases within 30 days and it's been two months...yes I am aware you now noticed there's a stain on it but there's nothing we can do...fine, I'll transfer you to my manager." you sighed when you got off the phone with an angry customer. It was also a rainy day today, and you didn't like working on rainy days, just wanting to relax by the window sill.

"Hey Y/n, let me guess. Another difficult customer?" Your coworker Gwen asked.

"Yeah, something like that. This lady tried to return something she bought two months ago because she just now found out there was a stain on it." you groaned.

Gwen gave you a sympathetic smile before turning back to the cash register to check out a customer.

You kept checking your watch every five minutes, wanting nothing more than to go home. Finally, you clocked out and agreed to meet Wanda at Barnes and Nobles to shop around for new books to read.

You put your coat on and opened your umbrella so you could step outside and make your way to the bookstore.

Once you arrived, you met up with her at the Starbucks that was inside the store. "So, what are you looking for Wands?" you asked.

"I'm looking for some dark romance, like serial killer type stuff." she replied innocently.

"Oh my gosh, didn't know you were into that." you chuckled, and she nudged your shoulder.

"What're you looking for then, N/n?"

"Romance obviously. Particularly Colleen Hoover. Oh! And Where The Crawdads Sing. The movie is coming out and I want to read the book before watching it." you explained. She nodded and the two of you went to look for the next best read.

You ended up picking out;

It Ends With Us

November 9th

The Hating Game

Where The Crawdads Sing

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo

All of which were romantic somehow in some way. Wanda picked up a few dark romances such as ones about serial killers and mafia bosses. We don't judge book tastes here.

When you got home, after picking up some Mcdonalds of course you gave your boyfriend a kiss on the cheek before the two of you dug into your cheeseburger and nuggets.

"Mmm, thank you Y/n for this." Steve said in between bites.

You giggled,

"Of course. I thought we'd treat ourselves."

"So, how many books did you get this time?"

"Hmm," you started putting a finger on your chin with a smile. "About five." you said.

"Better than last time, you got twelve."

"Yup, but I eat 'em up fast. Welcome to the life of a bookworm."

That night the two of you slept in the same bed, something you haven't done in a while due to Steve being a blanket hog. But it was nice, the two of you snuggled close together, sleeping soundly.
