"Hey." I smile softly at the woman who once had me under her grip. "Long time no see."

"Not long enough." Meagan chuckles as we share a long hug. "I'm happy to see you all recovered and looking handsome as ever."

"Thank you." I kiss the top of her head before pulling away from her. "What have you been up to?"

"Travelling a little." She smiles as we get ourselves settled in the diner. "Your little hospital stint had me rethinking the life that I lived and I figured that I was in need of some soul searching."

Her words make me sigh, "That wasn't my brightest moment and I'm sorry that you had to see that."

"You don't need to apologise." Meagan gives my hand a squeeze. "You made a mistake and seeing you now makes it all worth it because you look really good. You look happier than I have ever seen you and I was there when the NFL first came knocking so that's saying a lot."

"Yeah you were." I chuckle a little. "I'm married now."

"I know." She looks down at my ring finger. "How's the married life treating you? I saw all the honeymoon posts on your instagram feed which all looked great and you had your little viral moment."

"Married life is surprisingly good and things have seemingly smoothed over between us which is great." I bite down on my bottom lip. "I booked an appointment for a vasectomy."

Meagan looks at me in surprise, "Does Tiffany know?"

"I made my plans aware to her but she doesn't know about the appointment yet

"I made my plans aware to her but she doesn't know about the appointment yet." We pause to order our food and drinks since it's the brunch hour and I am fucking starving. "I don't want any kids and that's not going to change because I married her."

"That's what I needed to talk to you about." My eyes flicker to hers and she looks away which makes me furrow my brows at her. "There is a possibility that I'm pregnant with your child."

I feel my eyes blink a few times, "What are you saying?"

"You were the only man that I slept with in that period and besides a brief fling on vacation, all signs seem to point to you." Meagan lets out a shaky sigh. "I'm still waiting for results from my blood work but I wanted to let you know beforehand."

"Wow." I rub my lips together. "I... we never used a condom and I always use a condom so it makes sense."

"Why do I feel as if you would have given your wife a different reaction?" Meagan asks as the waiter arrives with our drinks. "You're strangely calm about this considering that you're going to be doing the dreaded operation soon."

"Tiffany is not you." I tell her and she closes her eyes for a moment. "You were the only woman that I saw myself building an entire future and it's unfortunate that we went down different paths. I could never be the man that you needed then and unfortunately I can't be the man that you want now because life really wanted us apart."
