My new kitchen renovation for my gym has been going really well and I am hoping to have it completed within the next two weeks so I can have full use of my iron paradise. I wanted to have a space in my gym where I can store my protein shakes, powders, juices and meal preps since my kitchen is on the other side of the house.
The gym has a sliding patio door that leads to my cabana then the pool so I am thinking to have a little outdoor dining area set up.
This is the longest that I have lived in a home so I am taking the time to renovate it to meet my standards especially now that I am spending more time at home. I own quite a bit of land but I have yet to do anything with it so I'm going to start making my house a home.
"What are the likely chances of building an extension to the gym?" I ask the contractor and he pulls a face. "Could we knock the wall down and just extend it?"
"Knocking down the wall wouldn't be too hard once we get our hands on the blueprints and find out what materials were used during construction. That will give us an indication as to what structures are set in place so we don't knock the wrong thing down and bring this side of the house crashing down."
I cross my arms, "Just get to the point."
"Home extensions could take up to six months to do." He tells me and I grimace even though I already know that it's a long process. "And that's not taking into consideration the weather. The size of the extension would determine how many months it will take but we will have to get permits from the city which can take several weeks."
"An extension is not something that I'm looking to do at the moment, I just want to weigh my options now that I've begun the renovation process." I roll my shoulders back. "Would you be down to look at a couple of rooms that I'm thinking of renovating."
The contractor smiles big, "I absolutely can."
After talking about the progress of the kitchen, he leaves my side to check up on the work that his team is doing since everything is being built from scratch. Buying countertops and bar stool was something that I did not anticipate doing but it was nice to sit down with Aaliyah who helped me pick out what works best for my gym.
"So this is it?" I ask myself as I stare out at my backyard. "This is the life that I dreamed about for so long."
"Talking to yourself again."
Aaliyah places her hand on my lower back as she rests her head on my shoulder.
"Maybe you eavesdrop too much." I bump my hip against hers and she smiles up at me. "Your mini photoshoot only took fifteen minutes so I'm hoping you got some good shots for instagram and daddy."
