it was the end of the day and steve was waiting out by his car for robin. he knew eddie'd scheduled hellfire, but he was hoping he would tell him if he passed the exam or not before he went to work.
robin came out, watching as steve still didn't move from sitting on the trunk of the car staring at the school doors nervously.
'..are you waiting for eddie?'
steve nodded, messing with the ring eddie gave him on his lap. she hopped up on the trunk beside him, also curious if he'd passed despite not knowing their plans involved moving once they graduated.
and sure, they didn't plan on moving far away, just in a more populated area of indiana than hawkins was. where there were maybe less people who'd be prejudiced.
they both looked up as the door opened loudly, seeing eddie run out towards them.
'did you pass?' steve immediately said, hopping off of the trunk of the car to see the paper he was holding.
'i got an 80, harrington!' eddie had a huge grin, his hands excitedly shaking by his sides. 'i passed! i'm gonna graduate!'
'oh my god!' he quickly enveloped him in a hug, not caring at this point if anyone saw it.
robin couldn't contain how happy she was for eddie either, immediately wrapping her arms around the both of them.
'i'm so proud of you,' steve said, head pushed into the crook of his neck.
eddie nodded, trying not to get all teary and shit and cry in front of robin. 'fuck, okay i need to get to hellfire, pick me up when you get off your shift!'
he said, running backwards for a second before hurrying back in the building to meet with them.
robin glanced over at steve, seeing how huge the smile on his face was. she was so happy for him. eddie too.
'..so? how'd things go with vickie?' he said, getting into the car with her.
'she, uh..' robin rubbed the back of her neck, smiling. 'she said she'd go out with me, we're getting coffee on friday,'
steve's jaw dropped, looking at her in shock. 'robin! why didn't you tell me?!'
'i didn't wanna take eddie's spotlight! he's graduating!'
'but you finally got a date with vickie! robin!' he said, reaching over and pulling her into a hug.
'i know!' robin said, excitedly hopping up and down a little in the seat of the car before freezing. '..shit.'
'what now?' steve said, brows furrowing.
'i'm gonna ramble like an idiot on the date,' she said, putting her head in her hands as he pulled out of the parking lot.
'robin.' he said, glancing over as he began driving towards family video. 'vickie rambles like an idiot too. you'll both yammer on for hours.'
'don't call her an idiot!' robin's jaw dropped as she hit him in the shoulder.
'i didn't mean it like that!'
'i know.' she groaned, leaning back against the seat.
'no no, you're not getting all sad on me.' steve shook his head, raising his eyebrows at her. 'you got a date. with a girl. you're not allowed to bum yourself out.'
she smiled a little at steve's encouragement. 'fine, you're right.'
a few minutes later and they were at family video, steve immediately going in and looking for the newspaper he'd tossed on the counter from yesterday.
