in about 5 minutes, the kids had all piled into the back of steve's bmw. they normally would've gone in eddie's van but he was just a little concerned they'd find drugs in the back somewhere.
steve went outside after pulling some clothes on, seeing eddie sitting by the side of the pool. he crouched down, moving his curly hair to the side and pressing small kisses to his neck.
'they're good with it,' he said, smiling. 'are you okay?'
eddie nodded, leaning into his touch a little. 'they really didn't care?'
'nope,' he hummed, patting the older one on the back as he got up. 'mike blackmailed me for a ride to the arcade and quarters though, so..'
eddie snorted, following him in. 'i'll be there in a sec, let me get dressed. don't think they want to see us almost making out and me without pants in 1 day.'
'i do,' steve said as he went outside, closing the front door with a stifled laugh.
he got in the car, the kids complaining back and forth over who gets to play dig dug first when they get there.
steve glanced up after a minute or two as eddie rushed out the front door, hopping as he tied one of his shoes. the second he let his foot down, he stomped on the other shoelace.
so from the front seat of the bmw, he got a clear shot of eddie tripping and eating shit on the driveway.
steve snorted, immediately covering his mouth to suppress a laugh. eddie got back up quickly, tossing himself in the passenger seat with a grumble.
'i'm so sorry that was literally the funniest thing i've seen in weeks,' he said, catching his breath as he pulled out of the driveway.
the peanut gallery in the backseat continued to argue, paying no attention to the two in the front.
eddie finished tying his shoes, punching the one driving in the shoulder. he glanced up, looking in the rearview mirror at will who'd withdrew himself from the dig dug debate to look between him and steve.
he mouthed 'i'll talk to you when we get there', will giving a nod and a smile in return.
eventually they pulled into the parking lot of the arcade, mike immediately grabbing the small handful of quarters steve had as everyone rushed inside.
'gimme a second,' eddie got out of the car, walking over to the outside brick wall where will was waiting.
'thank you so much for helping steve, he told me you made him feel a lot better talking about us earlier.'
'so you and steve made up?' will glanced over to where steve was waiting in the car.
'yeah, yeah. we made up,' eddie said with a small grin, nodding. 'how're things with..?'
'oh, uh..' will's face got a little red as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously. 'i think he might know sometimes, he stares at me a lot.'
the older one was happy for the kid. 'well, he was okay with me and harrington, so.. he's not opposed, y'know?'
will smiled a little more. 'i was worried he'd say something stupid and make steve feel bad.'
eddie nodded, raising his eyebrows. 'yeah, me too. now go have fun, quit talking to me,' he patted him on the back, gesturing towards the door and hopping back in the car once he was inside.
'what was that about?' steve asked, beginning to leave the parking lot knowing he'd have to come back and pick them up in a few hours.
'hey, that's between me and the kid.' eddie shook his head, putting his white reeboks up on the dashboard.
'hm, okay.' he shook his head in amusement, admiring the bond eddie was making with will. he knew how awful will'd had it for years now, but he seemed happier now that he had someone with a lot in common with him.
'keep hanging out with them and you'll end up babysitting for 3 years, with no end in sight.'
'3 years??' eddie looked over in surprise. 'damn, harrington.'
'..it's worth it though.' he said with a nod. 'they're one of the most annoying groups of people i've ever known, but you really have no choice but to love 'em.'
the longer-haired one nodded, watching the small smile on steve's face as he talked.
'you're literally the most motherly dude i've ever met.'
steve rolled his eyes, still looking ahead at the road. 'yeah? so that makes you the—' he immediately stopped talking, eddie trying not to laugh.
'no, say it.' he grinned, eyebrows raised. 'you're the mom and i'm the..?'
steve shook his head. 'i'm not saying that.'
'say it! i'm the dadd-'
'i swear to god—'
