Long ago, when the brothers were still angels. Belphie had a lover. It was another angel.
Belphie loved them a lot, but when Lilith broke a rule. Something horrible happened.
Along with Lilith dying, his lover was cursed to be reincarnated every 100 years, without their memories, as a human.
They will meet Belphie every time and fall in love with him, but eventually, being a human. They died.
The only way to stop this was to find their memories, but it seemed impossible.
A riddle, that no one Belphie met was ever able to solve. Not even Lucifer.
This century, his lover came as an exchange student. When Belphie saw them in front of him when he was in the attic.
He wanted to get out. He wanted to be with them, but he was trapped. By his own brother.
Nevertheless, he was freed by his lover. After that, whatever problems that were there were resolved.
This is the present. Mc is here as an exchange student and Belphie is still trying to figure out the answer to the riddle.
"What could it mean?" Belphie asked as he thought about the riddle. He was in his room with Beel.
"Maybe you should ask Mc" Beel suggested.
"How would they know?" Belphie asked.
"I don't know" Beel said as he ate a pack of chips.
'Nothing to lose in trying' Belphie thought and got up from the bed. He went to Mc's room and knocked.
"Come in" A voice said from inside. Belphie went inside and saw Mc wearing glasses and reading a book.
They were still pretty as ever to Belphie. Belphie sat down next to them on the bed.
"So, what brings you here Belphie?" Mc asked as they put a bookmark and took off their glasses.
"I need help with a riddle" Belphie said.
"Oh, what is it?" Mc asked excited. They loved riddles.
"This place between asleep and awake where you can still remember dreams, I swear I'll always love you.." Belphie said.
Mc thought, the first thing that came to their mind was a song. Where I'll be waiting by Rich Edwards.
Then they remembered a story that one of their 6th grade teacher told their class.
"Wanna hear a story? Maybe it will help ya solve the riddle" Mc said and looked at Belphie with a smile.
"Sure" Belphie replied and put his head on their lap. Mc started to stroke his hair gently.
"It's a story that a teacher told me once" Mc said. Belphie nodded.
"There used to be two angels who loved each other deeply, but a war tore them apart. One of them lost their purpose to live and the other was imprisoned somewhere" Mc started.
This was already something that had happened, but Belphie kept on listening.
"According to legend. The place between asleep and awake where you can still remember your dreams is a place in between heaven and hell. A cliff that allows you to see heaven above and hell below" Mc said. This peaked Belphie's interest.
"A single Sakura tree is on the cliff. A swing hangs from one of its branches. The angel that is imprisoned, waits there everyday in hopes that their lover will come to save them" Mc said.
"It is said that the only way the lover can find this place is to rid their heart of sadness. Sadness of losing his lover" Mc ended.
This made Belphie remember something the original Mc said just before they died.
"Don't be sad ok? I love to see you smile!"
"Mc, I think I can find this place" Belphie said as he got up.
"Really?" Mc asked.
"Yea, but I need your help" Belphie said.
Mc was shocked when Belphie looked at them. He was smiling a genuine smile.
Mc took Belphie's hand. Belphie asked Lucifer to go to the human world. Seeing how determined Belphie was, Lucifer let him go without asking anything.
When Mc and Belphie were in the human world, Belphie took Mc to a Sakura tree.
"What are we doing under this Sakura tree? This isn't even a cliff" Mc said.
The Sakura tree was a tree under which Belphie and Mc used to have picnics. So, it made Belphie happy.
"Mc" Belphie said as he looked at them.
"Hm?" Mc looked at Belphie. Belphie smiled.
"Could you give me a smile?" Belphie asked. Mc smiled immediately. This made Belphie really happy.
Suddenly, both of them started to float and they were enveloped by white light.
