Riley sat with Dustin in the Byers sitting room, they'd spent the past ten minutes taping old pieces of cardboard to the inside of their garden shed to make it unrecognisable to Will when they tried to get answers from him.
They now waited for Hopper, Mike, Jonathan and Joyce to return with good news. Max and Lucas sat opposite each other in the hall. Steve was waving his baseball bat with nails sticking out of it around the room while Nancy lent against the wall.
Riley lifted her head off the table rubbing her eyes as she felt Dustin place his hat on top her head, he smiled softly at her. They didn't speak, they didn't have to. Riley didn't trust herself to say anything, she'd been running on adrenaline for the past few hours and she knew that she could break down at any moment.
Dustin knew his best friend, he knew that when Riley went quiet even refusing to talk to him it was never a good thing.
Riley frowned looking up at the lights when they started flickering everyone else had seen it too, quickly walking towards the window looking out at the shed which Will was in. The flickering slowly came to a stop and they all sighed in relief going back to where they were sitting before.
Hopper suddenly came walking through the back door the others following behind him as he grabbed a piece of paper and a pen off the side and sitting opposite Dustin and Riley.
"What happened?" Dustin asked leaning forwards.
"I think he's talking, just not with words." Hopper explained writing down a bunch of lines and dotes that Riley immediately recognised as morse code.
Steve lent towards his little sister confused, "What is that?"
Riley rolled her eyes looking up at him, "Morse code."
"H E R E." Hopper spelled out, "Will's still in there. He's talking to us."
Hopper once again left with Joyce, Mike and Joyce taking one of the Supercomms and leaving the other one with the other group.
Dustin held the paper writing down what Hopper sent through the supercomm, "Dash, dot, dash, dot."
Riley looked towards the morse code book she had infront of her, she knew most of it off by heart but wanted to make sure, "C"
Nancy then write down the letter C on another piece of paper.
"L, O, S, E, G, A, T, E." Riley finished as they all lept up leaning over Nancy's paper all reading out what had been written down, "Close Gate."
The phone suddenly started ringing making them all jump, "Shit! Shit!" Dustin yelled running towards the phone picking it up before slamming it back down, the ringing stopped, but only for a few seconds.
Nancy lept forwards pulling the phone off the wall and chucking it down the hallway.
"Do you think he heard that?" Max asked as Dustin came back to stand at Riley's side.
"It's just a phone," Steve sighed, "It could be anywhere. Right?"
His answer was quickly answered when the sound of hundred of Demo-dogs roaring came from all around, "That's not good." Dustin muttered.
Hopper came in holding his gun in one hand holding another one which they had taken from the Byers shed in the other, "Hey, hey, get away from the windows!" He turned to Jonathan holding out one of the guns, "You know how to use this?"
"What?"
"Can you use this?"
"I can." Nancy cut Hopper quickly chucked the gun her. Steve was holding his baseball bat, and Mike was holding a very small and very useless candle stick. Riley stood inbetween Max and Dustin, Lucas standing at Max's other side.
Riley's breath hitched as a loud screech came from outside, reaching out and grabbing the closest thing which happened to be Dustin's hand. Dustin squeezed her hand reassuringly as they looked towards the window where the noise came from.
They turned back towards the front of the house hearing another Demo-dog. The sound of bones crunching came from outside and then it was silent for a second before a Demo-dog came crashing through the window.
Hopper and Nancy pointed their guns towards it but slowly lowered them when it led their lifeless.
"Holy shit." Dustin muttered under his breath. Riley looked at it confused, what could possible kill a Demo-dog. her eyes widened as an idea popped into her head, but it couldn't be right. It just couldn't.
The door creaked and they all spun round to face it. The lock suddenly clicked and the chain came undone falling off. The door slowly opened and Riley smiled to herself.
Stood there blood dripping from her nose was Eleven. Except she looked so different, she was dressed in a large black coat with a black t-shirt and a pair of denim jeans. And now she had hair, it was gelled backwards.
Mike took a step forwards smiling as he walked towards her pulling her into a tight hug, "I never gave up on you. I called you every night. Every night for-"
"353 days." Eleven smiled up at him, "I heard."
"Why didn't you tell me you were there?" Mike asked, "That you were okay?"
"Because I wouldn't let her." Hopper spoke up before walking towards El, "The hell is this? Where have you been?"
"Where have you been?" Eleven shot back, Hopper didn't answer only pulled her into a hug.
Mike looked between them coming to realisation, "You've been hiding her. You've been hiding her this whole time!" Mike lent forwards pushing Hopper in the back.
He spun round grabbing Mike by the shirt, "Hey! Lets talk. Alone." He led Mike towards another room.
Riley didn't waste no time finally letting go of Dustin's hand a rushing forwards pulling El into a hug. El laughed almost falling over but she quickly hugged back, "I missed you so much." Riley smiled, "You left me alone with these idiots."
Dustin and Lucas scoffed in disbelief. El smiled at her slowly pulling away from the hug, "I promise to never leave you with them again."
Dustin rolled his eyes, him and Lucas coming to stand next to Riley, El quickly pulled them into a hug too, "We missed you." Lucas muttered.
"I missed you, too." El whispered back.
"We talked about you pretty much every day." Dustin informed her as they pulled away from the hug, El stared at him confused before slowly bringing her hand up to his mouth.
"Teeth."
"What?" Dustin asked.
"You have teeth." El told him.
Dustin smiled looking towards Riley before back at El, "oh. You like these pearls?" he then proceeded to make a weird growling noise. Eleven raised her eyebrows looking startled as Riley shook her head smiling to herself, they were all back together again.
"Eleven?" Max spoke walking up behind them, she held her hand out towards her, "Hey, um, i'm Max. I've heard a lot about you."
Eleven looked at her before walking straight past her towards Joyce blanking Max completely, "Can I see him?" She asked referring to Will. Joyce nodded her head taking El into Will's bedroom.
Riley sighed looking towards Max, "Hey, um, we haven't properly talked, so, uh, I'm Riley."
Max smiled going along with it she held her hand out once again but this time Riley quickly shook it, "I'm Max. It's nice to meet you."
El re-entered the room walking towards where the piece of paper Nancy had been writing on was. The rest of the group slowly followed after her.
"You opened this gate before, right?" Joyce asked pointing at the paper.
"yes."
"Do you think if we got you back there, that you could close it?"
Eleven looked towards Joyce nodding her head before looking back at the piece of paper, "Yes."
