575 BC - Babylon

Flying through the air, Ikaris and Y/n attacked the Deviants that wanted to kill the inhabitants of Babylon. Meanwhile, on the ground, Makkari sped away every human and brought them to safety.

"Hey, that one was mine!" Kingo yelled at Thena, who had just decapitated a Deviant. "Oh, never mind." he mumbled, attacking another one that ran in his direction.

A Deviant chased after a little girl, who had fallen to her knees. Ikaris protected her with his body, shooting a laser at the creature before Makkari threw the Deviant into a structure.

Gilgamesh led the people inside the city, the gates protecting them from the attackers. He smiled before punching the biggest Deviant, making it crash into the city's wall.

Y/n lifted herself in the air, landing on the Deviant's back before piercing through its skull with a sword, given to her by Thena. The others attacked the creature with their laser beams, energy blasts, speed, strength and sword.

After the fight, Druig led his best friend through Babylon. "It is always quite interesting watching you fight, darling." he mused. Their arms were interlaced, preventing them from separating in the buzzing streets.

"Well, I'm always excited when I can see you using your powers. It's fascinating." she admitted, smiling up at her friend. "I could use them just for you." he winked back, making his friend blush furiously.

"You know that there's this celebration tonight, do you? Are you going there?" she asked, trying to change the subject. "Don't you think it would be a little sad to go there without a date?" he asked.

The two of them stopped and were now looking at each other. "No, I don't think so. I mean, none of us Eternals will have a date." she laughed.

"Maybe the two of us could go together." he proposed. She smiled at him before kissing his cheek, making his cheeks redden. "I'd like that." she said before turning away.

From above, standing on top of a building, Ajak watched the two of them with a smile on her face, knowing something would blossom between the two Eternals soon.

The duo went back to the Domo after buying something to eat in the city. Sitting down in the lab, he pulled her closer so she was leaning down on his chest, in between his legs.

"Phastos." Ajak called out to the Eternal who was working on something in his lab. "Did you go to the party last night like I told you to?" she asked, eyeing her fellow Eternal suspiciously.

"The party. Yeah, it was-" he scoffed, only to be interrupted by Druig. "He worked all night." the brunette said while eating his bread, sharing it with Y/n.

"Who was talking to you?" Phastos asked, clearly annoyed. "Get a life. And where is Sersi?" Ajak said, turning to Phastos. "Late as usual." Sprite spoke up.

Y/n went to grab Druig's bread, who immediately pulled it away from her reach. "Nuh-uh. Open your mouth." he ordered, his mouth stuffed with food.

She obeyed and he fed her, placing pieces of bread in her mouth. "I'm sorry, but I have something very exciting to show you, okay? Wait 'till you see this." Phastos said, pulling Ajak by her hand.

Meanwhile, Druig stood up and went to get himself a cup of tea, offering Y/n some as well before sitting down next to her again.

"What is it?" she asked, not understanding what his creation could do. "It's an engine. It moves steam from high pressure to low pressure. Uh, it'll help them till their fields at an incredibly fast rate." Phastos explained.

"It's gonna freak them out." Sprite claimed. "I mean. they only have had the wheel a thousand years, so..." Druig continued.

"You know, we could do that thing, you know, where you use your mind to control them and then they could do it quicker." Phastos suggested, looking at Druig.

"Ajak, you listening to this?" Druig and Y/n spoke up at the same time, grinning at each other once Ajak turned to look at Phastos.

"Phastos, this steam..." she started, trailing off. "Engine." Phastos reminded her. "...it's too soon. And there she is." Ajak spoke when Sersi arrived.

"What did I miss?" the dark haired Eternal asked with a nervous smile. "Nothing. Just the screams of my deep disappointment." Phastos smiled sarcastically.

"I'm sure you have something simpler." Ajak turned to the inventor. "Simple. Okay, let's see. Uh. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the plow. 'Cause that's what it does. Plows dirt." Phastos said, clearly disappointed.

"I met another group of settlers who are building their homes in the northern fields. They'll need to plant their own crops." Sersi tried to lighten the mood.

"Thanks, Sersi." Phastos mumbled, standing beside Druig and Y/n and drinking a cup of tea. "Listen, humanity may be coming along slower than some of us want. But there is no telling what wonders they will discover as they advance." Ajak spoke.
