Present day - Chicago
"Daddy! Daddy! Watch this!" a young boy, Jack, exclaimed. "Let me see it. Let me see it." Phastos smiled, watching his son while repairing the young boy's bike.
Seeing Ikaris, Sersi, Druig, and Y/n standing in front of his garden, his smile fell. "Hi." Sersi said, smiling at the Eternal. Jack turned around to look at the people, a smile spreading across his face.
"Aunt Y/n!" he exclaimed, running up to the Eternal who crouched down to pick him up. "Hey, sunshine. How are you?" she asked, kissing his cheek.
"Hello. Can we help you?" Phastos' husband, Ben, asked, smiling at the female Eternal who had visited them countless times. "Hey, Jack, Ben. Hey, guys. These are my friends from college." Phastos said, earning a knowing look from his husband.
"Uh, this is Sylvia and, uh, Isaac. That's Isaac. And that's aunt Y/n's husband Druig." Phastos spoke, pointing at the different people he'd just named.
"You're the Druig aunt Y/n always talks about!" Jack said, excitedly. "Oh, so you're talking about me, darling?" Druig asked, a smirk forming on his face.
"Dad, that's Superman! Dad, that's Superman!" Jack exclaimed, pointing at Ikaris. "Jack, that's really funny, Jack. That is definitely not Superman." Phastos tried to convince his son.
"No, no! He is Superman! I saw him on TV. He was in London, fighting a monster. And you were with a cape and you were shooting laser beams out of your eyes." Jack said, gesturing around wildly.
"I don't wear a cape." Ikaris said, as if that was the only thing he had to say. "Oh, sorry." Jack apologized with a sheepish grin. "Okay, well, we should just go inside, right?" Phastos said.
Jack ran up to Y/n, who knelt down so she could look him in the eyes. "Aunt Y/n, can you show me that trick again?" he asked, knowing it only worked outside.
"Of course." she smiled. She put her hands around one of his, putting a little dirt on his palm, before opening her eyes and moving them in a circular motion so the dirt moved upwards, wind blowing through her hair.
She'd seen that trick when she watched the Twilight movies with Druig, and since Jack hadn't watched them, the trick was like an eighth world wonder to him.
The little boy cheered, hugging his aunt before joining his dad inside. Ben walked up to Y/n, hugging her quickly before going inside. "You're good with kids, darling." Druig smiled.
If wasn't a grin or a mischievous smile, but rather a soft one. Even Y/n, after being married for 1500 years, rarely saw his soft smiles and she was glad whenever she did.
Sitting inside their living room, the four Eternals watched Phastos helping Jack to brush his teeth. "You got it, Jack?" Phastos asked, earning a hum from his son.
"Way to go." Phastos praised. "Yes." Jack agreed, happy he finally got the hang of it. Once Phastos had noticed the Eternals watching, the four ran to take a seat and look as natural as possible.
Y/n and Druig argued over a chair before Druig sat down and pulled his wife to sit on his lap, whereas Ikaris was reading a kids' book and Sersi looked at the coffee mug in her hands.
"Yeah, incredibly natural, guys. I mean, except for you two, you always act like that." Phastos said, looking at Druig and Y/n. "So, after all these years, even you fell for Ajak's lies." Phastos spoke, taking off his glasses.
"No need to rub it in." Ikaris mumbled, playing with something on the table. "It all makes sense why she wouldn't let us interfere with human conflicts. Conflicts lead to war, and war actually leads to advancement in lifesaving technology and medicine. So our mission was never to make a peaceful and harmonious world, but to increase the population at all costs. Just farming humans as food for the Celestials, right?" Phastos asked.
"That's bleak." Ikaris mumbled before Phastos interrupted him. "Well, so is telling your husband and your child that they could be dead within a few days." Phastos countered.
"Thought you'd given up on humans." Druig spoke, his chin resting on Y/n's shoulder. "I got lucky, okay? I have a family now. They give me faith again. And I see the good in humanity in them every single day. So, look, I cannot help you. I am never leaving them." Phastos said, shaking his head.
"Phastos-" Sersi said, softly. "I'm sorry, Sersi. It was wrong for me to use my powers without thinking about the consequences in the first place. So, now, I choose to use my hands to fix my child's bicycle, okay?" Phastos spoke.
"Do you?" Y/n asked, knowing he was lying. "I don't use my powers anymore." Phastos said again, looking at her. She looked at Ikaris and nodded. At her command, he shot laser beams out of his eyes against a window, the beams not doing any damage.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! My child is right down the hallway!" Phastos screamed, pointing in the direction of Jack's room. "That looks like someone's been using his powers." Druig smirked, proud of his wife's idea.
"I bet you've built the perfect safe house. What is this even made of, vibranium?" Ikaris asked, smashing his hand down on the table, which immediately split into two pieces, everything on the table crashing down.
"Fall collection. IKEA. Ass. How did you even deal with this guy for over five thousand years?" Phastos asked, turning to look at Sersi.
"If you stay here, you might as well invite the Deviants to dinner. Never mind waiting for the end of the world." Ikaris said, gaining Phastos' attention.
"He has a point." Sersi agreed. "No, I'm sorry. You can't just show up in my life and expect me to go with you. I'm not gonna-" Phastos said just as Ben entered the room.
"You should go, habibi." Ben said, the five Eternals looking at Phastos' husband. "You want me to go?" the Eternal asked. "You know what my mom would say to you right now, right? Quit procrastinating, Phil, and take care of your business. He's a chronic procrastinator." Ben said, switching between English and Arabic.
"I'm not leaving you two. No way." Phastos said, standing up and walking over to his husband. "I'm not happy about it, but if there's a chance for us to watch Jack grow up to live a life of his own, we should take it." Ben said. Phastos remained silent before nodding.
The same evening, after Phastos brought Jack to bed and kissed Ben goodbye, the five Eternals left, ready to pick up the last one.
