*i'll be writing in third person for this chapter!*
_________________________________"Oh." Chat said dully. "I guess that answers my question."
He wasn't mad or anything, just, shocked. Sure he could still see Marinette as Adrein, but it was a bummer since he was his completely authentic self as Chat.
And that didn't seem to be enough.
"W-Wait! Chat—Just hear me out, please."
The truth was he already knew she wanted to stop seeing him as Chat for Adrien, which he could try to understand, but the fact that she was technically seeing two people at the same time, and swore she loved one of them was what really got him.
But who was he to judge?
"Go ahead."
She took a deep breath before she began.
"Come inside." She sighed, opening the trapdoor even more so that Chat could fit through it. She played with her hair nervously as she waited for Chat to enter her room. Sure, she had intended to tell Chat Noir how she was feeling, but definitely not this soon. The time wasn't necessarily right, but it was now or never.
Once the Cat landed into her room, she signaled for them to sit on her bed. She sat, and he followed behind her.
"Ok." Marinette began.
"I didn't know i'd tell you so soon—and definitely not in these circumstances, but I really need to get this off my chest, 'K?
Chat nodded in response, waiting for her to finish.
"I-I think we should stop seeing eachother." She spoke. "It's not anything you did! Not at all."
She paused. She could barley hold eye contact with him because of how embarrassing the nature of this conversation was. Meanwhile, Chat was staring right at her, with a seemingly blank expression on his face.
"Is that all?" He abruptly asked.
"Um...No"
"I feel like we're better of as friends—atleast what we were before....We..y'know.." Now she couldn't even face him as her checks we're burning red. She felt horrible, knowing how much Chat liked her, but what about Adrein? She couldn't deny the feelings she had for him, the feelings she had been suppressing for so long that arose in her the night before.
"I'm sorry Chat. I should've told you sooner." She sighed.
"No, Marinette, don't be sorry. I get it. It's just—"
He stopped after that, looking down at the floor.
"It's just what?" Marinette asked, searching his face for an answer.
"It's just...why did you continue to see me when you knew you loved someone else?"
Her eyes widened at his response. It wasn't what she was expecting to hear, but it wasn't not true, either.
He was right. She was, You could say, in love with Adrien when she was seeing Chat Noir, although it wasn't as strong as it is now. Before she started seeing Chat, however, she always had Adrien in mind, but labeled him as a crush, because she knew their was no chance they'd get together.
She hated to admit it, but she slept with Chat so impulsively that night because of how lonely she felt, and she craved the need to be with someone, and to be comforted.
