CHAPTER 5

Meanwhile on the way back home:

'To think he would actually ruin my dreams. I told him I wanted this so bad. How dare he.' Athena sulked to herself as she was kicking small pebbles along the path.

'But coach Jeremiah looked so confident in his picks... am I really better at defending?' Athena started to question herself and her abilities.

'No... all my high school years I have been a perfect quarterback. What makes him better? He isn't  THAT much faster.' 

'If only I could have seen the scores. I bet it isn't much of a difference. If only I dodged that Theseus guy. I bet I would have been the perfect quarterback.'

Still kicking the stone she didn't see that she was almost hitting a street pole. Just before she was about to hit her head. She felt a tug on her shirt.

"Look out, don't want to make those pretty eyes go to waste by bruising them." A short blond girl stopped Athena in her tracks.

Looking behind her, she just now noticed the street pole she was about to hit.

"You saved me there, I owe you one. Thanks.,," She waited until the mystery girl filled the blank with her name.

"My name is Freja, I am on the cheerleading team." Her grey eyes never left Athenas.

"Well Freja, thank you very much. If you ever need me? Here is my number, only because I owe you one. Not because you're like... really pretty." Athena winked and pulled a pen out of her backbag. Grabbed Freja's hand and softly wrote her number on there.

"Now you know my name, I must know yours? Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to put you in my phone." Freja giggled.

"Right! My name is Athena. I was actually about to go grab some food, mind joining me? They say food tastes better with a nice view." Athena said while rubbing the back of her neck.

"I would love to! I'm starving from watching you from afar." Freja blushed as she locked arms with Athena.

Walking back to the dorms, Severin was sulking just as much as Athena.

When he got inside, he forgot to wipe the sad look off his face before entering.

"Dude, no way you didn't make the cut." Gauge had a disappointed but surprised face.

"It's actually worse than that." Severin shot him a watery smile.

"Prince charming over here got quarterback role. And now him and miss cry a lot will never be friends." Rasputin broke the news.

"I wouldn't put it like that. She got the lead defense role. I am just better at dodging and running, so I got the quarterback role instead of her." Severin obviously felt guilty.

"You should have seen her SULKING on the way back. If only I had some popcorn with me. She looked like the main role in a horrible romance movie and her wife of 8 years just cheated on her." Rasputin laughed

"Or like a shitty Adele song." Rasputin rolled his eyes while wiping the evil grin off his face once he noticed nobody was laughing at his joke.

"Lovely audience I had tonight, Adieus!" Rasputin bowed before entering his room and slamming the door shut.

"Sometimes I am afraid to breathe around those two." Cedric said with a mortified look on his face.

"I feel like we all are." Marise nodded in agreement.
