• Izuku's POV •
Everyone in the school was excited about the Sports Festival to the point that we trained for the last weeks. And now, we're all standing in the middle of the Sports Festival Stadium filled with people and heroes watching us. "Students, you will be running a four-kilometer-long obstacle course around the stadium! You're allowed to use your quirks as long you don't leave the race course, "Midnight announced, pointing her whip at us. It was a little embarrassing that she painted at us with a whip.
She continues, "The first obstacle is Robo Inferno: a blockade of robots! The next obstacle is The Fall: a canyon that must be walked across using tightropes! Find the last one going through a minefield! You need a little excitement in your life, the winner gets a special prize so good luck!" We started running once the alarm went off and the exit was so cramped that caused people to push each other. Suddenly, someone generated ice on the ground causing a lot of people to get stuck on the ice.
"You bastard," Bakugou yelled, blasting his way to catch up to that person. I didn't become a victim as I also caught up while leaving a trail of fire. There's a loud rumble and everyone sees giant robots then Midnight announces, "The first obstacle that students are forced with!" Without any hesitation, I pull down my mask and take a big deep breath then aim at a robot that was watching me. I blew out a large amount of fire, the burning robot fell to the ground while I coughed up smoke and pulled up my mask.
A guy with half of his red and the other half while crouching down generates ice from the ground and swings his arm towards the robots causing the robots to freeze and break apart. "Awesome! From Class 1-A Shoto Todoroki defeated several robots in one go," Present Mic announced, as I grabbed a metal piece. I realized that I used my quirk and I know All Might is watching me, confused as to why I haven't used One For All yet.
Midnight spoke up, "On to the second obstacle: The Fall! Careful to not fall on the tightropes, students!" I recognized one of the girls in class, she jumped sky high and landed on a tightrope. I hear someone giggling, "Hehe, here's my chance to show off my babies." I turn to see the pink-haired girl that I bumped into a few weeks ago, she's wearing a weird-looking backpack. A girl complained about how she was able to have equipment on her while others couldn't.
The pink-haired girl explained, "I'm from the hero support course, the government allowed schools to have courses that don't involve hero training. Some people can't rely on their quirks for combat so it's only fair, plus we had to develop the items ourselves." She presses a button on her equipment and it shoots out a rope then she's being pulled off the cliff. The girl started proclaiming something, "Take a look at my equipment, you companies! Especially the big ones!"
I turn to see the guy who froze the hell out of the robots, sliding through the tightropes while Bakugou blasts his way to catch up with him. Mic Present announced, "Awesome, Class 1-A Shoto Todoroki is still in the lead, while Class 1-A Katsuki bakugou is hot on his tail!" I hang upside down as I make my way through the tightrope with the piece of metal strapped to my back. I could've used One for All to go through the obstacle course but I chose not to use it.
"Now on the final obstacle course: The Minefield! Eraserhead, do you have anything to say about the Sports Festival?"
"Ugh, do I have to? I would rather nap than be an announcer."
"Come on, dude! Light up, it'll be over before you know it!"
"I don't know how you convince me into doing this."
"Come on, dude! Stop being so negative and say something!"
"Ugh, fine... The landmines are for the obstacle course, so they're not too powerful."
I stop running and see Todoroki and Bakugou pushing each other, completely missing the landmines. They're too far for me to catch up to them but I'm aiming to be in first place, I need to get past them. I realized that the landmines are the type that goes off when stepped on. So, I carefully dug up the landmines with the piece of metal. It took a couple of minutes but I finally gathered enough landmines to make a big explosion. I back up a little, using the piece of metal as a shield then jump on the landmines.
"What?! Class 1-A Izuku Midoriya is in hot pursuit with a giant blast! He has taken the lead! What have you been teaching your students, Eraserhead?!"
"... Nothing at all. I didn't teach any of this to them. They're responsible for their actions."
"There you have it, ladies and gentlemen, Eraserhead is a terrible teacher!"
"I'm what?!"
Shit! I didn't think about the landing! "Fuck, fuck! How am I going to land?!" I mumbled, soaring passed everyone, especially Todoroki and Bakugou. Todoroki makes an ice pathway while Bakugou blasts his way through then he yells at me, "Deku, you bastard! There's no way in hell I'm letting you get ahead of me!" I flip him off, making him angrier than before but I ignore him as he yells at me. Shit, I'm going down! They'll get ahead of me in an instant, I can't let them get ahead of me!
I flip myself and place my feet on their shoulders then slam the piece of metal against the ground, making another explosion. I roll on the ground and start running while Todoroki and Bakugou are on my tail. I can hear Todoroki's footsteps and Bakugou's blasts getting closer to me. I start picking up the pace more, then Present Mic announces, "And now, the first person who made it back to the stadium is!.. Izuku Midoriya from Class 1-A!"
