We enter her house, being met with silence. El and I follow the redhead inside before stopping at a door. She places her hand on the handle and opens it slowly, peeking inside. "Why do I get the feeling we're gonna find all kinds of wrong in here?" She mutters as we step into the messy room. It smelt musky of cigarettes and I scrunch my nose as I enter. It's a mess. The bed isn't made, there were a few shirts around the place, cassette tapes on the tables as music blares from the radio. A plate as well, which is being used as an ashtray. Max walks over to his bedside table and opens the drawer as I peek over her shoulder. Inside are multiple Penthouse Magazines which display women with very little clothing.
"Ugh" Max says, recoiling at the sight. "Gag me with a spoon." She says before abruptly closing it. I chuckle at her reaction and she rolls her eyes. "Don't tell me you don't find that disgusting." She asks me as El walks over to the bathroom. "Yeah....I just found your reaction funny." I say, grinning before following the brunette. El opens the door and switches the light on, Max and I on her heels. She walks inside and we see the bathtub which is filled with water. Floating in the water are plastic bags. "Max...?" She says, turning to the redhead as she walks over. She leans down, picking up one of the bags, reading it. "Ice. It's just ice. It's probably for his muscles or something. He works out like a maniac." Max says, very unconvincingly. I nod slowly and turn around, looking at the dimly lit room.
I notice a bit of red on the cabinet doors under the sink. While Max and El are still investigating the tub, I open up the cabinet only for my eyes to spot something. Something...that gives me all kinds of wrong vibes. It was a small green garbage bin...but it had something slightly hanging out of it. I take the bin and peer inside to see two things. "Guys..." I say, turning around with both items. I watch as the two girls turn to look at me and I hold up the items so they can clearly see it too.
A red lifeguard's first aid kit bag, and a yellow whistle....that is stained with blood.____________________________________
We bike to the community pool while it is pouring rain. El rode on Max's bike back and I rode my own. Luckily we are wearing raincoats. El is wearing a red one, Max is wearing a yellow one and I'm wearing a white one. We walk into the building and look around. "There." Max says, nodding to the desk where two people sat. A lifeguard and who I assume is the manager. We walk to the desk and I notice they're reading magazines, not even looking at us. "Uh, excuse me." I say. Without even looking up, the man speaks, monotone. "No one in the water until thirty minutes after the last strike. And don't try to argue with me. You want to get electrocuted, go climb a tree."
No one speaks to me and ignores me like that. But before I could say anything, Max cut in with a sarcastic chuckle. "Yeah, well, we don't care." She says, hands on her hips. "We aren't here to swim. Or electrocuted." She adds. "Also, I recommend that if you speak to someone, they only take you seriously when you actually acknowledge their presence." She adds, causing the man to look up at us, finally. "We found this." El says, lifting up the lifeguard's first aid kit. "Does it belong to anyone?" I ask, watching as the manager squints his eyes, still disinterested. "Oh, yeah. That's Heathers. I'll get it back to her." He says, holding out his hand. I push El's hand away from his grasp, putting her behind me slightly. "We could give it back to her." El mutters from behind me.
"You could. Cept she's not here. Bailed on me today." The man says, shrugging. I look at the girls and they return my worried look. "What is this? You girls want a reward or something?" He asks, narrowing his eyes. Max rolls her eyes, scoffing before replying. "No, we're just ...good samaritans" She says, sarcastically. The lifeguard sitting next to the manager sneers at Max, causing her to flinch. I glare at the lifeguard and when she notices me, she quickly averts her eyes, looking away. I turn to Max, to see her looking at El, who's looking at something behind us.
