Notes: The pics I will be using in this and the next chapter, Chanjin's hair colours are swapped in all of them. So please keep imagining Chan as a ravenette and Hyunjin as a blonde.
Long chapter like 6.4k wordcount.

The ground was muddy and slippery and the atmosphere was heavier than the previous night's rainfall.
As Chan entered the training fields he saw the younger Moon and Baek princes gathered in the shedded weaponry area. Certain words of their intense conversation made him halt his hurried steps.
"Those two can't ever catch a break, can they?" Changbin sighed.
"I am still terrified about what the High Priest said prior to Channie hyung waking up. And knowing Hyunjinnie hyung was planning to leave for the Kang empire...what if Chan hyung hadn't stopped him at the right time!" Jeongin rambled anxiously.
"Shh. We can't freak out right now, at least for their sake." Felix tried to calm the maknae.
"How can we not freak out! I don't even want to imagine what would have happened with the bond's protection has wearing out. Nothing could have stopped Llongwook anymore." Jisung said, much more loudly than he had intended to making a few of the soldiers training nearby turn their heads for a moment.
"Lower your voice!" Both Minho and Seungmin whisper yelled at the same time.
"Couldn't stop him from what?" The princes turned around immediately hearing the rough voice.
Their eyes were filled with saddness when they realised that the appearance of the source of the voice was much rougher. Chan's neat training uniform contrasted his untamed hair, which was in an absolute mess, his eyes were bloodshot, his face and expression both pale and his wounded arm clearly not cleaned and was poorly bangaded by the same one that he had ripped off earlier.
"I seriously don't have the energy to repeat myself right now." He said as he walked closer to the rest of the group.
They all shared hesitant looks before Felix exhaled out heavily and said, "Well, I assume you know that The Kang King didn't allow Llongwook to marry or umm...mate with Hyunjinnie hyung before the next red moon. That's because inspite of all the misunderstandings and distance between you and hyung in those years, the bond blessed upon you both by the Moon Goddess acted like a proctective shield for Hyunjinnie hyung. Priest Hwa Ro said that if the Kang prince had even tried to give Hyunjin hyung a mating mark he could have even died. The Kang King knew this. Thus he told his son to wait till the red moon when the bond is at its weakest."
Chan's expression was stony and unreadable. But his clenched jaw and firey eyes gave away the fact that he was on the verge of going on a killing spree just by hearing the mention of the Kang Prince.
"Remember how Llongwook seemed to have freaked out when Hyunjin danced in the throne room. He ran out of there immediately. We realise now that it must have been because the close proximity between you and Hyunjin, your bond made Hyunjinah even stronger and his presence more overwhelming for the person who intended to break that bond." Minho explained.
The fact that for once he was able to be of any source of strength to his mate soothed Chan's heart. He had been internally beating himself up for all the pain Hyunjin was suffering through, somehow finding his own self at fault for everything. He knew it was his irrational thinking yet a huge part of him believed it to be true.
