Author's P.O.V
A young golden haired boy was sitting near the river, on the grass, leaning his back on a tree, filling a piece of paper with all the colours his brush could hold. A soft smile played on his rosy lips, his eyes held the same shine as the moon decorating the evening sky.
(Hyunjin's painting.)
He was a bit surprised as a hand embraced his shoulder.
"Appa! You scared me!" The boys scolded his father as he looked up at him.
"You knew it was me." He chuckled.
"Well of course I can recognise my appa!" The boy said proudly.
His father nodded, his eyes holding a much greater pride for his son.
"Are they done?"
"Jisungie and Yong ah are still practicing. You know how they are. Jeongin won't leave either. He says he has to watch and learn from his hyungs." His father said, adoration crystal clear in his voice as he mentions his sons.
"Yes appa. Now how is my drawing? I really like the summer night view when the river isn't frozen."
"It's lovely but..."
"But?" The boy asked, sadness peeking into his voice.
"But not as lovely as you, my son."
"Even though I don't like fighting like my younger brothers. They must make you and eomma so proud." Hyunjin voiced his doubts.
"Hyunjinah, both your eomma and me are every bit proud of you as we are of your brothers. I want you to be what you want not what others ask you to. And all this makes you unique and that makes you perfect! I am very proud!" The alpha said gently yet assertively.
Hyunjin smiled, yet it vanished again, "Then why don't you let me out?"
The alpha was taken aback by the sudden question. Before he could compose himself to answer,
"Appa! Come quickly!"
"Appa, that's Jisungie's voice. Are they hurt? Oh no!" Hyunjin ran towards the training grounds, without waiting for a relpy.
His father quickly followed.
There were only a few guards there, as training hours were over. Hyujin was checking Felix for any injuries while Jisung asked him to stop worrying. Little Jeongin stood near them holding his eomma's hands.
The alpha made his way to his wife as the guards bowed to the King and Queen.
"Hyun ah, weren't you in the meeting room?"
"Yes I just finished my work quickly and came to visit my family." She smiled sweetly to her husband, who mirrored her smile.
Hyunjin finally seemed to have calmed down after knowing none of his brothers were injured.
"Oh Moon Goddess! Eomma had come to visit us. So I called! Why are you so dramatic!" Jisung sighed.
"You idiot, I was worried. And show respect to your hyung! You are so careless, who knows what will happen to poor Felix and Jeongin ah." Hyunjin sassed back.
The rest started laughing, eventually Jisung and Hyunjin joining them as well. The heartfelt moment of the Baek family was a common sight for the people at the palace. They were known as the kindest and most generous rulers, loved and adored by their people.
"Min ah and also you little ones, I also came to remind you all that the Moon family are arriving tomorrow. We have to be ready in the morning to welcome them!"
"Jinyoung and Joon Sung samchons (uncle) are coming! Yayyyy!" Both Felix and Jeongin cheered.
Jisung said, "But why are their alpha sons coming? I don't like alphas."
"Hey I am an alpha!" The King said, dramatically putting his heart on his chest to express his hurt. (Guess the dramatic dna runs in their genes.)
"Not you or Joon Sung samchon! But the others are so annoying. Like yesterday an alpha girl was being so rude during training and I had to kick her as-"
Everyone stared at him, Hyunjin looked in horror for him to complete the word,
"As hard as I could. Hehe."
"Good boy. Not the kicking part though." The queen said with a satisfied smile.
"Nice save." Whispered Felix.
The evening went by in laughs and bickering and evetually everyone went to bed early for tomorrow.
Yet, Hyunjin couldn't stop the immense speed his heart was beating in during any of it. He couldn't sleep. Just kept tossing around in his bed.
Finally, he went to his balcony, sitting on the ground, hands around his knees, staring at the moon, trying to find the answers he so whole heartedly believed the Moon Goddess had hidden from him.
