How It Has Been
Opening tiny eye to see
The world full of glee,
I see you shining from inside
Looked at you wide-eyed.
I don't remember your lap
Was busy taking a nap,
But the touch remained
And your love sustained.
Today at the threshold of maturity
I thank you for your security. That is how it has been
For as long as I remember the grin
You there a mastermind
To my problems of all kind.
Throughout the rotation of the Earth
Throughout facing her wrath,
Throughout Summer, Monsoon, and Winter
Throughout small appealing banter,
You remained with me
With or without a see. When that is how it has been,
Don't care anymore for a change in
Your heart and mine
Love, it's all divine
We go out under the dark sky
To see the stars up high,
They say planets don't twinkle
Here stars lack sprinkle
But high up they remain
In their domain. Then when one day after a night,
It'll all cease to be bright,
I will know I'm not alone
No matter how much I've grown.
I will know when to light up a torch
And avoid indications of scorch.
Without all that you've taught me,
I'd be a door without its key
Because that is how it has been
For as long as I remember your grin.~Disha Chakraborty
