It was the Summer of '86. I was waiting out front of the Starcourt Mall for my boyfriend of 6 months to pick me up from my shift at Scoops Ahoy! I knew he was in the area as soon as I heard "Wasted Years" by Iron Maiden blaring from his '71 Chevy van as he hauled ass around the corner and sped through the parking lot.

I laughed to myself. This crazy son-of-a-bitch!

He skidded to a stop in front of me. He was head banging and air shredding on guitar along to the song when he finally looked at me through the passenger side window with the biggest shit eating grin and stuck his tongue out at me crazily.

"What?" I asked feeling slightly embarrassed.

If there was one thing Eddie knew how to do it was making me blush with just one look.

"Ahoy,Matey!!" He laughed at my sailor uniform.

I threw my hat at him through the opened window. He tired to put it on but it didnt quite fit over his voluminous mane.

"Come on,lets get outta here." He says opening my door from the inside.

I tiredly stepped toward the van and hopped in.

"Am I taking you home to change first or are you gunna show off that sexy outfit at Hellfire tonight?" Eddie asks as he starts driving.

"Tonight? I dont know,Eds I'm kind of beat from the day. I worked overtime and it was crazy busy today since school let out. Everyone and their Grandmother was there today. I think I'm just gunna stay in and call it a night." I say.

He turns down the radio and stops at the sign. He looks over at me reaching over and gently rubs my shoulder.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah. I'm just tired,Eddie. I'm allowed to be tired, arent I? I just want to relax."

He made a left instead of a right. The opposite direction of my house.

"Eddie?" I questioned, feeling a bit irritated.

"Nothings more relaxing than a drive, right?"

"What about Hellfire?"

"What about it? It doesnt start until I'm there. And if I'm not..." He smirks as he takes my hand and kisses it.

I smile, shaking my head.

Eddie turns out onto the highway and starts to drive without a destination in mind. With the road beneath us,the wind in our hair and him by my side,my heart was full and I actually began to relax.
