25. What's Ahead?

Before anyone could understand anything, the trigger was pointed at the lost Meerab,  in a second Ayaan faced her, shielding from the gun point and boom!

In a few seconds, when we all were still processing the situation, Ayaan fell down gradually with his bleeding arm, eyes still fixed on Meerab.

"Ayaan!" Meerab let out a scream suddenly and knelt down. We all gathered around panickingly.

"Call the Ambulance " We heard Amirah scream out of faint tears.

Ayaan caught hold of Meerab's hand and with trembling lips, uttered" I really loved you, Ms Khan!" And smiled his last before he dozed off.

"Ayyyyyaaaaaannnnnn!" Amirah cried, shaking him and continuously patting his cheeks.

Tere nishaan yaadon me hai,
Tu kyu nahi takdeer mein!

Meerab just got blank. She felt devastated. Her mind kept playing Ayaan and his talks, including the scenes where they happily laughed together on the boat.

Naadan Dil hai dhundta,
Qurbat teri tasveer mein!

She remembered when Ayaan had caught her from falling on the floor, and then his smiling face. His shiny blue eyes and peachy pink coloured smile.

The Ambulance had arrived and doctors started checking him, they carried him on the stretcher and pulled in the vehicle along with Amirah.

Mumkin nahi hai, tujhko bhulana!

Meerab who was watching Ayaan go away, suddenly came back to her senses and marched in the ambulance, afraid to lose him.

Dekhe khuda do aashiqan dilan tabahiyan,

Meerab and Amirah stood outside the room in which Ayaan was, while Amirah cried and prayed, Meerab sat in a corner just weeping.

Ve badi lambiyan si Judaiyaan!

Amirah approached Meerab, and both looked at eachother.
"Meerab Khan!" Amirah spoke blankly, while Meerab didn't react.

"Ayaan is here, because of me! He is bearing punishment without any fault, all because of me!" Amirah looked away, wiping the lone tear that escaped her eyes.

"I was so blinded by the success that I didn't see my brother being traumatized. I'm Sorry for every thing, Meerab Khan, can you forgive me for doing this to you?" Amirah asked pleasingly and Meerab looked away, unable to say anything.

"I know, that's not easy. But still can't we try to forget whatever happened? For goodness sake? For the people around us? For Ayaan!?" Amirah spoke with a croaky voice.

Meerab looked thoughtfully at her and closed her eyes with a nod and a sigh. Amirah gave a slight smug smile just before the doctors called them in.

Amirah rushed towards Ayaan, who was sitting back weakly on the bed, his right arm covered with plasters which went around his neck to support his hand.

"Are you feeling okay?" Amirah sat on the chair beside the bed looking concerned while Ayaan just hummed, his eyes fixed at Meerab who was standing at the door. Amirah looked behind, got up from her seat and brought Meerab in,

"I'm Sorry Aye!" Amirah said looking at Ayaan, "Meerab gave me a chance Aye, can you too?" She asked with hope, while Meerab smug smiled at Amirah.

"Wowwww....If I'd ever knew, seeing me in this state, you both would become one, I would've did it long ago!" Ayaan slightly chuckled off.

"Shut up, Aye!" Amirah hit him slightly and left the room smiling,taking his prescription slip along to get medicines.

"Uhmmm! Ms Khan?" Ayaan spoke hesitatingly, unable to read Meerab's face and afraid of her reaction.

"You shouldn't have lied, Ayaan." Meerab came straight to the point, as always.

"I know, I'm Sorry! But I was confused. I was afraid, what if the situation would've been worse." Ayaan replied hoping she would understand.

"The situation would've just been worse Ayaan, not worst as it is right now." Meerab said stating facts.

" I thought you would never forgive me, once you get to know about this." Ayaan replied waiting for her reply.

"Right! I would have never forgiven you and Amirah, because it would be against my self respect and ego but you shattered it too, by taking the bullet instead of me, and honestly nothing matters to me as much as your life does." Meerab replied with a fake smile, looking into his eyes.

"Meerab!" Ayaan said admiring his love, and Meerab was taken aback to hear her name for the first time from his mouth.
She fell in love with her name suddenly, when he took it.

"I cannot be perfect, but will surely try to be. Chand taare to nahi Tod sakta, but I'll always be besides you and encourage you to reach the sky." Ayaan spoke with emotions portraying in his voice and eyes, while Meerab kept smiling,

"I can't build a Tajmahal for you but you'll always be my queen and my house, will be your palace. I can't vanish all the problems and sadness away from your life, but I promise you won't have to face them alone." Ayaan took Meerab's hand in his, truly giving his promise.

"Uhmmm, and the last thing, I..I couldn't sing better than Darshan Raval but I'll try my best, promise." He said grinning.

"You can never be serious, can you?" Meerab said chuckling.

"I am, Believe me, I'm serious for you! Tujhko paane ke liye hum, roz maange mannat ve, Duniya to kya cheez hai yaara, thukra denge jannat ve!" Ayaan replied smirking.

"You can never stop flirting too!" Meerab said and both laughed together, happy at their new beautiful beginning.
