Edward's POV

I hated pushing Rebecca out, but I don't want her to know the me that's trying to come out. Let me explain what happened before. A couple months ago, I developed a crush on my coworker, Miss. Kringle, who worked in the files department, but she didn't like me like I liked her. I constantly brought her gifts and tried to make her laugh with my riddles, but other cops kept making fun of me. Every time I looked in the mirror, I kept seeing the monster trying to come out. He would argue with me.

"You need to stop mumbling and fumbling and tell her what's up!" He yelled at me. "Be quiet!" I shattered the mirror in front of me. A fellow cop saw my action and looked at me like I was crazy. "Sorry, just had a rough morning," I wasn't exactly lying. I hated that Miss. Kringle was dating another cop and she didn't even tell me. I was bringing her flowers when I saw him. The cop who goes by the name of Tom Dougherty, what a foul name. Yet he calls me Riddler Man, which I hate so much. He even physically abuses her too.

I can't stand for this, so I'm going to teach him a lesson. Not the dark lesson, but at least talk to him. I had a feeling the two of them had a date tonight, so I headed to Miss. Kringle's house and saw Tom Dougherty walking up the stairs. "Officer Dougherty," I called him. "Riddle Man? What are you doing here?" He turned around to face me. "I want you to leave Miss. Kringle alone," I stated flatly. "What are you going to do if I don't?" He then kicked me in the stomach, causing me to go down. But then I reached in my pocket without realizing and took out a small knife.

Officer Dougherty picked me up for another attack, but as he was, the knife went right into him. I didn't mean for it, but the feeling seemed right. I took the knife out, and then put it back in him multiple times. "Riddle Man..." was the last thing he said to me before he dropped dead. "Oh dear," I said to myself in fear. I just killed someone.. What do I do? I quickly stuffed his body in a garbage bag and took him back to my place. Then I had an idea.

I chopped him up, which was very gross, but there was no other way. I then put his body parts in a suitcase I had and brought him back to the GCPD. Nobody noticed anything out of the ordinary, so I was in the clear for now. I put my gear on and dumped the parts in the sink. I grabbed my chemicals to get rid of the evidence and kept mumbling to myself, "No body, no crime." When a knock came at the door, I instantly panicked and almost spilled the chemicals all over. "Mr. Nygma?" It was Miss. Kringle.

I quickly removed my mask and headed over to the door. She asked me if I had a specific set of files and I very urgently tried to find them. But she peered over in the sink and looked unsettled at the sight. "Oh my god, what happened?" She looked right at me. "Uh, poor guy was in an accident," I said a little quickly. "Are you sure that's what happened?" She then grew suspicious. "Miss. Kringle, I really need to get back to work," I then pushed her out the door with her desired files.

When she noticed Officer Dougherty was gone, she started to fall for me. Everything was beautiful for a couple of weeks. Until one day when I decided to come clean to her. "I killed Officer Dougherty," I said and then held up his badge. "What!?" She couldn't believe it. "You're a psychopath!" She yelled at me and tried to leave. "No Kristin, wait!" I tried to run after her. She kept slapping me, yet I held her against the door.

My hand was over her mouth to keep her from saying anything else, yet my other hand was around her neck. "Please, I love you," I kept trying to tell her. But when I removed my hands from her, she slid down the door unresponsive. "Kristin?" I said. "Oh no, no no no," I noticed she was dead. I held her in my arms and cried for the rest of the night. "What have I done?" I mumbled to myself.

I awoke the next morning to see my other half standing by the bed. "Have a nice date last night?" He laughed at me. "Leave me alone," I faced the other side of the bed. He laughed again. "Come on, you know you enjoyed every second of it," he went to the other side to face me. "I loved her!" I sat up and yelled at him. "Yeah well, we can't always get what we want," I then scanned the room and noticed Miss. Kringle's body was gone. "Where is she?" I asked him.

"Find her," he gave me a riddle, which led to the GCPD's vending machine, where I saw her hand in there. In her hand, it had another riddle. When I figured it out, I got scared. "You didn't," I looked at my other half. He laughed at my reaction. "I did," he stated. I found her body in the morgue. I needed to act fast and get it out before people noticed. "Why are you doing this to me?" I saw my other half leaning on the wall by the door. "Because it's fun!" He answered.

He kept talking to me, yet I was really trying my best to ignore him. Except for one question he kept asking me over and over. "How did it feel?" All of a sudden, something inside of me exploded. I felt more alive and then the other half of me disappeared. "Beautiful," I said aloud because we became one. I now accept myself for who I am.
