Edward's POV

Arkham has been absolutely crazy since I got here, but I was able to figure out how most people in here worked. When I heard Oswald was visiting me, I didn't expect him to bring Rebecca. I was so happy he did because I haven't seen her in months. Apparently I started fighting with myself again. The few crimes I committed happened when we were one, but when I started thinking things over once more, I became plain old Ed Nygma again.

My evil half was not happy to be out again. He kept telling me to hurt these inmates and become their leader, which I could've done, but chose not to. He wouldn't leave me alone, even when I tried to sleep. He'd always be standing there, watching me, talking to me. So I haven't really been sleeping. I know I looked a mess when I saw Oswald and Rebecca, but I don't think they noticed much, just the dumb prisoner outfit I'm wearing. Rebecca looked so upset to see me in this state. Honestly I feel she's the reason as to why I kicked out my evil half.

When Oswald handed me that present, I wished it were harder, but it was way too easy, even for my own standards. The wrapping paper looked nice though, so I decided to make some shapes. I made a penguin for Oswald and a flower for Rebecca. She semi0-smiled through her tears when I handed her the paper flower. "It's beautiful," she told me. She feels like a daughter to me.

I sat back down and Oswald kept trying to talk to me, but my evil half appeared in the room. I instantly frowned when I saw him. Oswald didn't notice because he was busy blabbering on about Fish Mooney and other things that I wasn't paying attention to. He walked up to Rebecca and grabbed a knife from his pocket. My eyes grew wide at that sight. "This girl is the reason you won't accept your destiny, you know what you have to do," he held the knife by her throat. She looked completely unphased since she couldn't see him, but I, on the other hand, didn't know what to do.

"Don't," I spoke under my breath so no one could hear me. All he did was laugh. He couldn't exactly touch her, but his taunting was really making me angry. "Ed? Are you alright?" Oswald finally noticed my attitude. I still didn't answer him. "Time's up Nygma," a guard came in and took me away. Rebecca waved and I waved back. My half was still by her being threatening to me. When I made it back to my cell, of course he was standing right in front of me.

"She's making you look weak," he said. "Who said I was ever weak?" I then asked him. He groaned at that question. "Every single person you've encountered!" He yelled. For once, he was actually right. He noticed the thought and smirked. "You know I'm right." I hate to admit, but I think he's my ticket to breaking out of Arkham. He pointed up and I managed to find the air vents. Once I made it to the roof, I quickly made my getaway and was never caught.

Once I made it home, I changed out of these rags and put on a sweater to sleep in. But I completely forgot my evil half doesn't let me sleep. "You need to take over this city, make it into something better!" It seems that was all he'd talk about. "Or better yet, find an enemy," a new idea came to him. That actually didn't sound like a bad idea. "Everyone hates me at this point, so honestly everyone would be my enemy," I told him. "But who was the one who got you locked up in the first place?" He reminded me.

"Jim Gordon," I said under my breath. "That's right, make him pay, and everyone else who held you back," he disappeared again. His idea was actually great and I decided to make it a reality. Gotham will soon know who I am.
