I smack my keys on the island counter then drag my feet over to the couch. Nina wasn't home yet, but she usually got home late every day, so this wasn't an uncommon occurrence.
We were roommates and it was only us living here. The area was pretty shitty, but for the money we had, we lived well.
We weren't allowed pets in the apartments, so when I was home alone, it was pretty quiet until I turned on the tv. We had just graduated college, yet, since we couldn't really move anywhere else, we stayed in the college town apartments. Occasionally, Nina would bring a freshman home and I would have to hear about it, probably the neighbors too.
So I sat there, my arms spread across the back of the couch watching Naked and Afraid. I hated this show, I was just too lazy to put anything else on.
When I got up to get food, the fridge was practically empty. Nothing but a half bottle of ketchup, a lemon, a box of lard, and a half-empty bag of shredded cheddar cheese, was left. I decided to go with the shredded cheese until I smelled it, then threw it away.
Nina usually did all the food shopping but I'm not really sure where she is.
Empty stomach, I head into my room and climb into bed. Hopefully tomorrow she will go.

I check my phone. 9:45 am. I am usually up later, but my stomach was killing me.
I stay in bed for another 10 minutes before I swing my legs off, placing them on the cold floor. Our heater hasn't worked in months.
"Nina!" I yell through the house. No answer. I groan, then go back to my room, grabbing clothes out of my dresser before heading into the bathroom.
I suppose I would get the groceries now.
After I'm done in the shower, I get dressed, grab my glasses off my bedside table, then grab my keys from the island counter.
The nearest store was 20 minutes away, yet, there were smaller ones nearby, but they didn't have the food I liked.
I parked quickly, turned off the car and locked it, then headed inside of the Walmart. I grab a cart then start with the produce. I didn't eat a lot of vegetables, but Nina was on some stupid keto diet, so I just got some anyways. I grabbed a few green apples, some kale, and a head of broccoli. I don't know what the fuck she wants.
For me, I head into the pasta and soup area. I loved soup. Tomato, french onion, miso, gazpacho, chicken noodle; just about anything.
Though, I was too lazy to make any of that, so I grab a whole box of 12 packets of maruchan ramen, throwing it into my basket then going to the pasta.
I grabbed a box of bowtie then spaghetti because that was the only two types of pasta my dad would feed me when I was younger, so those were my favorite.
He only let us have pasta on very special occasions though. Like when he got a promotion, or when he won an argument at work. Those special occasions came a lot. I fooled you didn't I? You thought special occasions never came, didn't you?
Next, I headed to the chip aisle. I grabbed a bag of ruffles, a bag of Takis, then a bag of Doritos.
No, I wasn't fat, I was skinny but I couldn't help it. That's just kind of the way I was born. If I never gained weight, why worry about eating healthy anyways? There's no point.
We didn't have any drinks in the house either besides water from the tap, so before I headed into the bakery, I grabbed 5 bottles of Gatorade, a 6 pack of coke, and a thing of cheap water bottles.
