My mother swung her brittle arms around my waist, tears fell from her childlike eyes. Her weeps pierced through me. Even though I knew how much she cared for me and how she would gladly give her life to stop this, I felt no remorse towards her. From the day I was born it was decided that I, the first born child would be put up for slavery on my sixteenth birthday at midnight. Vampires saw this as a way of...rewarding us humans. They would let the child have a final day with their family as a type of thanks for not running for the hills, Not like you would get very far.

" Lucy, you don't have to do this. We could try and to run, the four of us! " my mother always had her head in the clouds. I looked over towards my father, he shook his head. I understood, if I would say yes I would be murdering my whole family. " Mother, think about Kristy. She wouldn't be able to keep up". My younger sister had fallen ill, they would only give her treatment once I had been given to a master. Then they would give my master the choice, if he or she was generous my sister would live. If not...then there would be no point in this." Anyway what's with the negativity, my master might like me. If so you will be better off and I will have work for the rest of my life" I let out a slight laugh to give a carefree impression.

My mother gave me a slight squeeze. I tried not to blame her and father for this, though I would never be able to bring a child into this sort of world. We all jumped causing the floor to bounce, a high pitched ding sounding the beginning of my nightmare.

Prior to the clocks sound, knocking began to start on the door. "They never fail to disappoint do they". They were the first words father had said today, if I weren't in this situation I might of laughed. Growing inpatient, they began knocking again. I let out a low growl and pulled the door open, agitated. A built man with piercing red eyes looked down at me, making me feel intimated. " I will note down your late response as a punishment for making me wait ". I rolled my eyes, the last thing I needed was to get on the wrong side of this man.

" your name is Lucy sparrow correct? Born on July 6th?" my head automatically nodded, I could feel the intensity burning my skin. " Red hair,. Check. Blue eyes, check" He then lifted my wrist up and stamped the vampires symbol, a hand with only its thumb and pointing thing up. I never understood it but I never questioned it." I will now be taking you to the elemhouses, their you will be shown to vampires of top social standing either nobles or pure bloods. When chosen they will imprint a permanent symbol into your skin, that's if you get chosen".

My arms were then tied with a thin sliver chain, it was surprisingly loose, though I soon found that it tightened every time a pulled them. I was guided towards a old fashioned van, the red eyed man opened the back revealing four other children of my age. They squinted their attention towards the light now hitting their skin. " Get in then" the man said with a sadistic smile widening on his face, i tried to swallow the lump in my throat. I stumbled my way in and buried myself in the corner. The light soon fled and darkness crept in. The sound of cries filed the van. I could feel the chains getting tighter and tighter even though I wasn't moving.
