Chapter 32: Second date

Scarlett: Please hold your Saturday free, I have a surprise planned. ;D

That's the text I received Tuesday during my worktime at the aquarium.
I looked at my phone for a few moments, surprised by it.

I was even more surprised when I asked Scarlett what this is about and she said I'll just have to see.

Ever since then I tried to get at least a little bit of information about what's going to happen Saturday but she didn't cave.
From Friday on it was more like a joking around because I accepted that she wants to surprise me. I texted her that I was okay with pretty much everything as long as she won't kidnap me or something.

Not that I would mind being stuck with her but I would miss my life after a few weeks.
She sent a laughing emoji back and a thumbs up. That made me smile.

I thought quite a lot about what she has planned but since I have no hints or anything, I wasn't able to settle on anything.
So, I had no clue what it will be and if it will be only her and me or if Rose will be with us or if there are more people involved.

That was until I went to her house for dinner on Thursday, where Rose told me that she will be at a sleepover on Saturday.
I glanced over to Scarlett who put on her best poker face, not showing any kind of reaction to Rose's statement.

As always it was really nice to have dinner with them. I wasn't sure if Rose had talked to her mother about how she feels towards her father and the whole situation, so I kept my mouth shut about it.
I am aware that Scarlett probably is the only person who can really help Rose with this, since she is involved too but I don't want to push Rose to talk about it if she isn't ready yet.

Scarlett and I texted during the week, as always. She told me that the commercial shoot went great and thanked me like a million times that I was able to watch Rose on such short notice. I assured her that I had a great time with her and that it wasn't a problem.

Today is Saturday and I am excited to see what Scarlett has in store for today. It's currently 9 am and she hasn't given me any further information, making me suspicious what her plans are.
I suppose the plans are more around the evening time because I have a feeling that Rose won't be a part of them and she is away for a sleep over, so probably from some time around afternoon.

To keep myself occupied, I do my laundry and decide to clean my bathroom.
When my phone buzzes, I stop what I'm doing to take a look and smile widely when I see it's from Scarlett, telling me she'll pick me up at 6 pm and that I don't need to dress up or anything.
She still doesn't tell me what she has planned, apparently wanting to surprise me completely.

I decide on jeans and a simple top to wear for whatever Scarlett has planned. The outfit is simple, I am aware of that but it is also effective and allows me to do whatever is planned. Well, except going for a swim but I doubt that that's what we'll do.

Point 6 pm. I am downstairs and see Scarlett's car pull up onto the street. It stops in front of me and through the rolled down window I can see Scarlett smiling at me. I get in and fasten my seatbelt and off we go.

"Hey." She greets me with a short side glance before looking back at the street.

"Hey." I greet back and see a smile tugging on her lips.
"Wanna tell me where we're going now?" I ask in a teasing tone but also meaning it because I have no clue.

Scar hums in thought before slowly nodding and my heart starts to beat faster in excitement.

"I'm taking you out on a picnic." She lets me in on her plans.
After telling me, she nibbles on her bottom lip, clearly nervous about my reaction.
