The drive over to the police station didn't take long, "So you wanna tell me what actually happened to your throat?" Morgan asks from the driver's glancing over at his partner "I already told you what happened Morgan," Severide replies letting out a sigh as the federal SUV pulled up to the familiar police precinct.
21st District Police Station, Chicago
Morgan and the blonde walked up the steps of the faded red building walking into the station and over to a desk where an older woman was stood working. "Can I help you?" the older woman asks not taking her eyes off her paperwork. "Morgan, Severide" it was JJ that called them from a gated door she held open. Morgan and Severide sent a smile to the sergeant that just glared back before the two walked over to the stairs walking through the gated door and up a set of stairs
As the 3 made their way up the stairs they could already hear the rest of the team talking over the case as they walked in earning looks all around. An older man walked over extending his hand out to Morgan and the blonde. "I'm Sergent Hank Voight, Thank you for coming out so quickly," the older sergeant says shaking Morgan's hand. "SSA Derek Morgan and this is my partner- Zoey," a voice said cutting the agent off and earning a look of confusion between the BAU team and some of the CPD detectives. The blonde looked up to meet none other than Antonio Dawson.
A smile formed on the agent's face as she walked straight over pulling the detective into a hug, ignoring the pain that surged through her abdomen when the detective's arm brushed her side. "How have you been?" Antonio asks letting the blonde go, "Can't complain, how are you? How's Gabby?" she replies still smiling at the detective she'd known for almost 10 years. "She's doing good, you should go visit 51 while you're back I'm sure they would love to see you," Antonio says. "When we wrap up the case," she replies turning to notice confusion and the silent questions running across everyone's face. "Detective Dawson's sister is close with my brother," Severide said with a smile before her eye fell on the detective from Molly's.
"Hey, I'm detective Halstead," he says walking over with an intoxicating smile as he held his hand out to her. It's as if she'd just lost her ability to speak, "Severide, Zoey- Agent Severide" the blonde says correcting herself a few times as her face began to go red before she shook his hand. "Morgan, Severide. I need you to go talk to the families," Hotch spoke. "Halstead and I can go with you guys it'll make the trip faster," detective Dawson offered earning a nod from the older sergeant. "Go," was all he said as the 4 of them started walking back down the stairs.
Zoey was just hoping that nobody else noticed her word fumble around the attractive detective. "Antonio wanna come with me to go see the Stuart Family?" Morgan asks as they got outside. "Yea sounds good to me," Antonio said as the 4 four paused in front of each other. "We'll go talk to the Jackson family. See if there's anything we might've missed" Severide said before they split off going their separate ways.
"So you're a fed?" the detective asks glancing at her as the two walk towards a parking lot in the back of the building. "I am," she replied with a small smile unsure of what to tell him as she walked over to a dark grey pickup truck. "A pickup truck in Chicago?" Zoey asked pausing beside the vehicle. "It's a great vehicle" the detective replied climbing in the driver's seat and Zoey hopped into the passenger seat. "In the city?" she questioned raising an eyebrow at the man as he started the truck and began driving.
"So how often do you see cases like these?" the dark-haired detective asks after a couple of moments of silence. "Every time my phone rings," she replies with a sigh thinking over all the murder serial killer cases the team solved. "Is that why you were railing back drinks at Molly's the other night?" he asks her taking her aback. If he knew she was slamming back drinks last week at Molly's he noticed her when she instantly arrived. "Depends on the case, but I was celebrating a friend that passed away a few years ago," the blonde said as the vehicle pulled up outside the victim's family's House.
The visit with the family didn't take long ask Severide and Halstead to speak to the family about their daughter's attitude towards her appearance, which was very positive from what the family said. She had a very specific style of clothing she wore and as much as it hurt Zoey to do she had to pull out one of the crime scene photos to as the family if what she was wearing was something she would typically wear to which they said No. Their daughter would never wear something like that.
The drive back was silent, "Did you have to show them that photo?" he finally asks. Zoey looked in his direction, "Yea, Morgan had to do the same thing when he visited the Stuarts. It's helpful information to the investigation," she spoke. "How does traumatizing the parents with the crime scene photos of their dead daughter help our case?" he asked irritated. "Okay counter question, If the victims are found in clothes they would never buy or ever wear. How'd it end up on their body?" the blonde replied. "The suspect we're looking for must have dressed her?" he said more than asks earning a nod. "The little details lead us to the bigger picture, right now some of my team are looking at the disposal sites to see what it can tell us," Severide's voice got quieter as she recognized the street they were on.
West Maxwell Street, The truck stopped at a stop sign at the end of the road and the large firehouse came into view. "We can stop in really quickly to say hi, if you want," the detective says noticing her staring at firehouse 51.
Firehouse 51, Chicago Illinois
Zoey looked at the building that had the huge fire doors open, she could see 2 figures sitting on the roof and some others cleaning the truck and equipment. Before Zoey could answer the detective drove over pulling up outside the firehouse before killing the engine. "Jay, we should get back, we have a serial killer most likely looking for their next victim. We can do visits later" Zoey said as the detective hopped out of the truck heading towards the fire station. The blonde sighed before climbing out of the truck and following the detective up the driveway.
Matt and Kelly sat on the roof smoking a cigar and talking enjoying the rest of their shift. "So she had bruises on her neck before she left that she avoided talking about, she didn't call for a week until I called her and even then the conversation was short like she didn't wanna talk, I haven't heard from her since then." the squad lieutenant says with a sigh taking a drag of his cigar. "And you think it's this Jack guy she's been seeing?" Matt asks as Kelly nods. "It makes perfect sense, and the guy is a total ass," Kelly says angrily.
"Why don't you talk to Antonio?" Matt asks earning a look, "because unless she comes forward and tells someone what's actually going on. Nothing can be done" was all Kelly replied. "SEVERIDE YOU GOT A VISITOR" Cap yelled from below. Kelly and Matt both put their cigar out before sliding down the side of the ladder.
Kelly turned around to see none other than his baby sister standing there with a smirk on her face as he brother walked over engulfing her into a hug. "Hell, I missed you" her brother said holding her for another moment before letting go. "Why didn't you tell me you were home?" Kelly asks as Matt and Zoey say a quick hello as she also gave him a hug. "The team flew in this morning on a case," the blonde replies not really wanting to tell them any further details.
