Detective Nekudo: Unexpected love from the west

Chapter 5

Shinichi was sleeping peacefully the sun's warmth comfortably being shined on his fur. As he started to wake up he got a glimpse of a certain dark skinned male, holding him gently in bed.

He felt his cheeks getting warmer as he tried to move away, luckily, Heiji turned away, continuing to snore softly, letting him get away easily.

Shinichi jumped on some shelves, watching the place outside from the window, it looked beautiful.

Heiji groaned quietly, his eyes fluttering open to the sight of the black neko infront of him, sitting on his chest and staring at him.
Heiji looked confused, but it reminded him on the cat behavior he's heard about. Kazuha has said so before, cats often do this when their owners sleep, which is why many joke about how their cats could be planning their murder.

"Oi, do yah do this with Ran too?" Heiji asks, looking at him with a puzzled expression which broke shinichi from his trance, shaking his head.

Ran doesn't let me sleep with her, I mostly stay in the office...

"Oh... so is it true you're planning my murder?" Heiji says with a mischievous grin on his face

"....what?"

Heiji just laughed before grabbing the cat and putting him down beside him, before standing up and walking off.

Shinichi looked stunned, but at least Heiji didn't think it was weird for him to stare at Hattori while sleeping, Shinichi did thought he was cute when he slept.

"Oi Kudo! Breakfast is ready!"

The cat leaped down from the bed and ran out the room, he looked around the kitchen for a moment, and into the dinning room, no bowl anywhere.

He jumped on top of the table where Heiji was sitting.

"Where's my-"

"Here," Heiji passed a plate of sushi infront of Shinichi, which shocked him a little.

"I know how yah complain about eating cat food a lot, So I decided to just give you normal food" Heiji says with a smile, realizing how happy Shinichi was looking as he just stared at the plate with shinning stars in his eyes.

As shinichi was savoring his food, a knock on Heiji's door was heard, which confused Heiji a little.

He stood up before walking to the door and opening it.

"O, Kazuha?" Heiji says with a stunned expression on his face.

"Did you forget? We were supposed to go to the mall today!" Kazuha says as she crossed her arms.

Heiji shouted out in shock before quickly closing the door and getting changed.

"Ba-ka." Kazuha says with an annoyed expression on her face and she sighed.

Shinichi looked confused as he continued to nom on the sushi as he saw Heiji quickly go around the place.

As soon as he finished, Heiji walked back to the entrance and opened the door.

"Took you long enough, come o-" Kazuha was cut off by meowing, the black neko being seen from the corner of her eye.

"You... You have a cat?!" She says with a stunned look on her face.

"Its- Its not my-" Heiji mumbled before realizing Kazuha isn't infront of her anymore, looking behind she seemed to have dropped everything and was hugging the cat till it couldn't breathe.

Of course, that resulted in an irritated cat and many scratches.

Kazuha just laughed softly as she rubbed her cheek, it was full of scratches and a little scars.

"Yah had enough already?" Heiji says with with a chuckle as Kazuha pouted her lips.

"Nevermind that, let's go to the mall now, there's this new restaurant that opened up around there that I'd want to go in with you.

She says with a gleeful expression as she walked out. Though Heiji hesitated, he looked behind me, Shinichi was staring at him as he was sat down. He got reminded to what shinichi told him, and his experience back at Ran's house.

"Hey, can we bring Nekudo along?"

Kazuha looked at Heiji with a puzzled look on her face before Heiji pointed at the black neko

"Sure! I didn't know your cat liked to take walks!" She says with a gleeful smile and Heiji sighed a little, awkwardly mumbling.
"Its not really my cat, I kind of just started to take care of him right now..."

"Oh, I see... we should buy him a leash!" Kazuha says with a small giggle before skipping along the side walk, Heiji looked at Shinichi with a smile as he moved his cap backwards. Shinichi ran out with a smile.

The three of them were having a amazing time. They all went around shops and had fun, mostly just Kazuha dragging Heiji around for shopping but while they went to eat, Heiji did share his meal with Shinichi, both thought the food was heavenly.

A blood curling scream shocked everyone. Someone in the restaurant has been poisoned. Another murder.

"Man what's up with murderers popping up a lot more often?" Heiji mumbled with disappointment as he hung his head down and rubbed the back of his head.

'Tell me about it..' Shinichi thought to himself as Kazuha looked worried.

"Don't worry Kazuha, we- I mean I'll get this case done in no time!" Heiji beamed out before running off to the crime scene with the black neko resting on his shoulder.

"And that's how yah' did da' murder." Heiji stated as he crossed his arms boldly. The culprit bursting into tears as they talk about their motive and mostly life story.

"Good work detective, you really are the greatest" one of the police officers said with a grateful smile before walking off. Heiji soon realized, Kudo wasn't near him anymore.

Heiji looked around, before his eyes locked onto Kazuha, looking concerned as the black neko stared at this food blankly.

Heiji walked over, Kazuha greeting him before looking at the cat that seemed lost in thought.

"Oh, you're done already?"

"Yep, sorry about that" Heiji says as he sat down, seemed like it broke the neko out of its own thoughts since he looked at him, before starting to munch on the food infront of him.

Kazuha said her goodbye, telling how fun the day has still been.

Both he and Shinichi walked side by side, silently.

"Oi Kudo," Heiji mumbled out, breaking the silence, as well as Shinich being broken out of his thoughts once more. Looking at the taller male

"Thanks for the help" Heiji smiled, the sunset's light shown onto his skin, it was a beautiful sight.

Shinichi smiled back, laughing a little.

"No problem, that's what friends are for."

From Rivals to Friends. Heiji was curious to what shall happen next. It made him happy that they were both able to work together once more, but he believes this won't just be a one time thing, so he is looking forward to it. Excitedly.

"Anything you want for dinner? I'll treat yah!"

"Is that so? Well get ready. Haven't had single good meal til' today!"
