you can carve open every secret
of mine to an inch,
every aspect to my character,
to see that i am willing
to let you read me like a book,
flicking through the pages
as you see past chapters of mine
that developed me into the man i am today,
and as you read chapter 21 of my life:
the time of distance and absence.
i come to ask myself
does it help make the heart grow fonder,
that if i appreciate
the pain and patience i grow through,
would it result in a fortuitous future with you,
or would the book be burnt from within
as my dream comes to an end,
falling into the deepest pitful of hell.
