"Stand straighter, tense your stomach" Jace spoke firmly. Simon's eyelids were heavy and threatening to fall over his eyes at any moment. He felt a bead of sweat run down his face and his t-shirt clung to his back. They had been at this for hours. Jace had called Simon to extra tuition at the Institute's training room after the academy had closed its doors for the night.
The blonde haired boy was stood square in front of him and although they were roughly the same size he seemed to cast a shadow over Simon. Jace moved like lightning delivering a quick strike straight into the other boys stomach. Simon doubled over but stayed on his feet. Exhausted and frustrated Simon felt himself move and make a knuckle splitting impression on Jace's face. As he moved his hand away he saw the damage he had caused. But instead of looking annoyed or in pain Jace was, smiling? Simon quickly placed the smile, it wasn't happiness but menacing. He was in for it.
Jace moved quickly again and landed another punch to Simon's side. Then moving his feet, spun away to avoid the answering blow. Simon hated how he couldn't move as quickly, he had no chance. His hands came down and his face was left unguarded, Jace took advantage and thew his fist at the open jaw. Simon caught his hand and forcefully pushed it way. Jace reeled back at the unexpected move. "Good!" He huffed through a breath. Then came back at Simon with a kick to the chest, knocking him off of his feet. This wasn't going to end quickly Simon resigned himself to that fact and heaved his body off of the ground.
They emerged from the training room half an hour later, both bloody and dripping with sweat. Apparently, Simon was capable of fighting back and it had delighted Jace. Simon had felt the course of adrenaline through his veins, the lightness and power that it brought with it. He actually found himself smiling after participating in physical exercise.
"You need to remember to keep your face covered at all times" Jace laid a heavy arm over Simon's shoulders. His body aching from the punishments he had put it through lately. "And work on your stance so that you wont loose balance so easily" He gave him a playful shove with his other hand as they walked down the expanse of corridor towards the bedrooms. He was a good teacher Simon thought, nodding quietly. "If you ask nicely Izzy might let you use her shower" Jace winked and pushed Simon towards an unsuspecting wooden door, then continued on down the corridor and disappeared into a room on the left.
