The hall ways were dark and gloomy. Simon hadn't been in the training center this late before and he was eager to end the new experience as soon as possible. He was hurrying along, a heap of books hugged to his chest. There was no body else here, the day had ended hours ago. Simon wasn't meant to be in the center but he had fallen asleep in the library, his head on the open copy of a demonology textbook.

He burst through the doors to the training center and out into the cold night air, winter was coming. Simon wondered if Shadowhunters celebrated Christmas. Would he have to buy Izzy a present? What do you buy a Shadowhunter that doesn't have an interest in normal purchasable items. That was irrelevant at the moment though and he forced his mind away from Izzy and onto the task of finding a taxi.

The taxi driver gave him a strange look when Simon asked him to pull up outside of the Institute, which to him looked like a run down church with no windows and circled in high chain link fencing.

"I am not buying drugs, I promise" Simon couldn't help but smile at him as he handed over the fair, the mans face was shocked and passive at the same time. He stood on the curb as he drove off, wondering what it would look like to a passerby if he walked towards the church. Would he melt through the railing?

Inside the institute was chaos, people were running around and most of the candelabras were tipped up and laying on the floor smoking and lifeless. Simon dropped his books as he felt a rushing breeze brush past his face.

Jace jumped off of the high gallery barrier, Seraph blade blazing in hand. He drove the blade into something that Simon still couldn't make out, his mind was preoccupied racing with panic to strip away the layers so that he could see. Out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of a dark figure letting loose a thin stream of sparkling wire. Izzy.

He focused on the figure as it materialized into his girlfriend. She was fighting something off. Something that he couldn't see. He began to run towards her. He knew it wasn't helpful and he knew it was stupid but he couldn't help himself. The doors to the institute blew open and Magnus in all his glittery glory strode in. An invisible force surrounded Simon and before he knew what was going on he was travelling in the opposite direction. He was now headed towards the warlock stood in the arch of the doors.

Blue sparks started to fly and the Shadowhunters in the room seemed to relax, only slightly. They seemed to be winning now slicing and hacking at blurry black masses of air. Magnus put a hand on Simon and immediately he could see the fog condensed into shapes and then solid being. Demons.

Izzy was surrounded by three ugly looking slug like ones. She looked as though the situation was under control and Magnus showed no intention of intervening so it must have been okay. Almost as if to prove the point. She raised her whip high above her head and cracked it into the ground, the slugs continued to advance on her. Taking no notice of her warning strike. She spun the whip around her head and then sprung with it bringing it down in an arch across all three of the slugs. They withered and died, evaporating into clouds. Simon saw her pause for a second taking in the victory. Then she was running towards Jace and the demons that he was fighting in the center of the room.

Simon stood frozen to the spot, not entirely sure if it was voluntary or not, and watched as Izzy took out two more demons on her way to Jace. Alec appeared on the gallery and jumped down with out a moments hesitation. He felt the warlocks hand tense around the back of his shirt as the young man dropped through the air. Alec landed lightly at Jace's side, no signs of injury. The knot in his top was released and Simon couldn't help but smile to himself. They worked together as one unit, the three of them attacking and defending in turns.

Alec lunged forwards with his Seraph blade across the path of Jace who used his back as a spring board to take out a flying demon diving towards them. Izzy's whip flashed as she sliced down a third that was heading towards Alec who was still busy evaporating the first demon.

It all happened so fast that Simon found it hard to keep up. He noticed then that all the demons were gone and the room was empty except the five of them. Jace, Izzy and Alec strode over to them breathing heavy, covered in ichor and laughing. The smell of burning sulphur struck Simon and he ran out of the door before they could reach them. He found a nice shrub boarder outside the doors and promptly threw up into it.
