You tried your hardest to calm your breathing pattern as you sat backstage at your first ever youtube convention.
Popular youtubers continuously walking by as you avoided making a fool of yourself.
Your channel was one of the smallest, which was embarrassing enough , but you couldn't help but make it worse.
You'd only been here a while yet you'd already had a number of awkward moments, such as getting in people's way, answering questions which you found out weren't for you and worst of all, high-fiving someone who was waving to someone behind you.
"Y/n, your on stage next." One of the organisers informed you.. Great. More awkward times to come.
You looked down to you shaking hands as you thought about all the ways you could.. Probably would mess up.
"Hey, are you okay?"...
"Excuse me..hello?"
You looked up and found chocolate brown eyes peering into yours.
"Oh.. Sorry I thought you were talking to someone else..." You answered shyly, he simply laughed as he took a seat next to you
"Well, I was talking to you" he smiles
"Sorry, what were you saying?"
"I was asking if you were okay?" He repeats himself once again
"Oh, um yeah.. Just a bit nervous about going on stage. I'll probably mess up or say something weird.." you admit to the person you've never met in your life.
"Trust me, there's nothing to worry about. I promise you'll do great, I say a LOT of weird things and I haven't been boo'd off yet"
You both giggle, relaxing your body instantly.
"Time to go on!" Another organiser tells you.
You walk to the side of the stage, turning around to find the brown eyed boy still by your side.
"Just take deep breaths and be confident. I promise you'll be fine" he smiles and gives you an unexpected hug, almost enough to erase your nerves all together.
"Thank-you"
Your time on stage went perfectly, your followers kind and always giving questions. You said thank-you to them all before walking off stage.
"You did perfect" a now familiar voice speaks from behind you. You quickly spin, bumping into him and almost knocking the both of you over.
"Crap- thanks.. Uh and sorry..sorry! God I'm so awkward.."
"It's okay, I like awkward" The tall man giggles
"Did you really watch me the whole time?" You ask
"Yeah" he smiles down at you, standing so close your bodies almost touch
"Thank-you so much for calming me down earlier"
"It's no problem at all... "he answers, eyes still stuck on yours
"If there's any way I can make it up to you I-" your interrupted
"Let me take you to dinner"
"Okay" you smile back up at him
"I'm Dan by the way"
You both laugh that it took that long to learn each others names as Dan leads you out of the building, lacing his long fingers with yours.
