Derek goes to the main desk.
Receptionist - “can i help you sir?”
D - “I'm hoping so, a few hours ago, a fourteen year old boy was brought in with a single gunshot wound to the head. His name is Jack y/l/n have you got any updates?”
Rec - “okay, bare with me one moment…. Ah! Okay, so he was taken immediately into surgery where the doctors are attempting to fix the damage to his brain. He is still in surgery, and by the looks of it, it is going to be a long while before he is out. However, I must inform you that his injuries are extensive and it is highly likely that he won't make it off the table. I'm very sorry.”
Derek sighs. “It's okay. Thank you”
The receptionist smiles. “No problem.”
He goes back to the other two. Emily wakes up as he walks into the room but jj remains asleep.
E - “hey is jack okay?” she whispers.
Derek looks down and says “he is still in surgery, but the receptionist said it doesn't look good.”
Emily sighs and puts her head back. “Dammit”
A few minutes later a nurse comes in. JJ wakes up.
N - “ahh, agent prentiss, good to see you awake!"
Emily smiles and says “it's good to be awake"
N- "How are you feeling?”
E- "I feel fine now, the nausea is gone, only a slight pain in my head.”
N - “well that is to be expected with the injury you have.'' She does a few tests really quickly on emily. “Okay, well you're looking good, no signs of concussion, as long as you are feeling okay, i don't see any reason why you can't go home, just take it easy for the day okay? I know how you fbi agents are, thinking you are invincible” she jokingly rolls her eyes.
E - “am i able to go back to work?”
N - “it shouldn't be an issue, as long as you take it easy, don't overdo it, and don't get into any fights okay?”
Emily laughs and says okay.
N - “and if you start to feel nauseous, dizzy or weak, come back straight away, got it?”
E - “understood ma’am” Emily jokes back.
The nurse looks at jj and Derek “now you two make sure she listens okay? If you see anything out of the ordinary, even if it is just a wobble, you sit her down immediately okay?”
D - “yes boss” Derek laughs.
The nurse finishes her discharge papers and emily signs.
N - “okay, you are good to go!”
They all say thank you.
E - “question”
D - “shoot”
E - “if we came by ambulance, which is embarrassing enough, how are we getting back?”
JJ - “i called rossi, hes waiting outside”
E - “oh okay.”
JJ - “Are you ready to go?”
E - “yep. In fact i can't wait”
They all go out to the car and Derek sits in the passenger seat.
Rossi - “hey there, you have a nice nap?” he says jokingly.
