Something about the way he can relax whenever he's around her.

Every day at dawn the blue hedgehog rests his spikes upon her lap, slowing down his speedy life for a memorable amount of time as she tends to him in an all-loving manner.

But she doesn't mind, the pink hedgehog. Rather, she enjoys whenever he's like this - calm, steady and consuming the chitters of the birds in the sky and the soft grass grazing against his fur.

A gentle blush appears across her cheeks as she gazed upon the blue hedgehog she holds dear as a manila butterfly rests easily upon the tip of his nose.

She giggles, causing the curious hedgehog to open his emerald eyes. "Whatcha laughin' at?"

Once he spoke the startled butterfly flaps it's wings from his nose, traveling towards the pink hedgehog who reached her index finger out so the small creature could land upon it.

"Sonic!" She frowns with a puff of her cheek. "You almost scared her away!"

He chuckles. "How do you know it's a her?"

"I-!" The pink hedgehog is left speechless. "Hm. I guess I don't know for sure."

The butterfly flaps its wings once again, fluttering towards the springs that were but a few feet from the hedgehog pair.

"Isn't this amazing?" A glimmer sparkles on her eyes as she beholds her stare upon the beauty of the fields. "I wish we could stay like this .. forever."

He only grins, shutting his eyes. "Forever's a long time, Ames."

"But would it be so bad?" She asks, glancing down at the blue hedgehog. "It's .. it's nice to see you like this .."

He opens his eyes anew to see the now-shy pink hedgehog face away from him with her cheeks pigmented a rose-blush.

He smiles rather simplistically, "Aw Ames ... I can't stay like this forever. You know the Egghead likes to make me and all our friends' lives miserable."

She sighs. "I know I just .."

He inquisitively notices a change in her demeanor, so he lifts his head from her lap and shifts his body to face her properly. "Hey .. what's on your mind?"

She glanced up at him, leaning her chest towards him as she slips her hand into his. This, her bold attempts to express her adoration for him, always made him nervous.

A drip of sweat forms on his temple as a light blush appears across his cheeks. "Uh ... heh, um, Ames - what are you ...?"

"You said something the other day .. and it left me wondering .. you said that .. that I ..."

She takes in a breath and ultimately blurts her words, "You said that you've always cared about me as more than a friend .. that without me you wouldn't know what to do."

The drops of sweat increase as the blue hedgehog chuckles anxiously, "Y-Yeah! Like a ... like a best friend! Like how Tails and I are!"

The pink hedgehog frowns, leaning in closer to the blue hedgehog whose eyes widen. "I don't believe that for one second, Sonic the Hedgehog!"

"Amy ..." He coos, leaning his head backward in retaliation. "Can we not .. do this right now?"

She narrows her eyes. "What are you hiding? Why won't you just tell me!"

He hops back upon his feet as he keeps his hands in front of his body in defense. "Nothing, nothing at all! I totally mean what I said, Ames, you're like one of my bestest friends!"

The pink hedgehog is seemingly disappointed, facing away as the blue hedgehog places his index finger under his nose.

"We should head back," He says, "I know Tails wanted me to go with him to the falls on the Tornado to test drive it and .. you've got your restaurant to take care of, yeah?"
