April 7th, Monday, 1986. Munson's Trailer.
12:32 AM.It was later that night, Steve pulling up to the trailer park only to see Wayne's car gone & Eddie's van just parked there. He turned off the car in front of their trailer & pursed his lips together, taking deep breaths.
He exit his car & went around the trailer, climbing through the window of Eddie's room. He looked around at the posters & discs. Fuck, he missed him so much.
Steve looked around the room, searching for a blanket. He found quite a large one & decided to use it. But, how was he gonna take the tarp off? He had to figure that part out.
Steve walked out of Eddie's room & into the living room, finding things to throw at the tarp. He used silverware which almost worked. What he tried to do was throw the forks or knives up at the tarp, hoping that soon enough it would cut it open.
He had to be careful to not get cut himself though. There were a few rips, but it didn't work. So, what he did was climb onto one of the couches & reach over to the tarp since the couch was close enough.
The boy took a deep breath as his fingers grazed against the extremely wrinkled blue tarp. He ended up gripping it & tearing it off, the tarp falling to the floor. He sighed in relief.
The gate was still there.
He pursed his lips as he got off the couch & grabbed the blanket, throwing it up into the gate. It just hung there in the air in between. Steve bit down on his bottom lip, just thinking about how Eddie didn't take the chance to escape.
How he didn't climb up the blanket. Did he really want to go back to the upside down & find him? Steve gripped the blanket & climbed up, falling down into the upside down without any soft support for his back. But, he was okay.
Steve looked around, all of a sudden realizing he forgot his flashlight. "Well, shit." He sighed. Steve walked around as he adjusted to the dark. It was so cold.
There were dust particles everywhere, vines wrapping around everything. Steve walked out the trailer & walked around, finding the spot where Eddie died.
His shield & spear were still there. A bike laid besides all of those, but his body wasn't there. Why though? He was sure that he died right here. There was blood too.
Steve sighed & sat down at the spot by all the weapons & the bike. All the dead demobat bodies next to him. He hugged his knees & stuffed his face into them, holding in his tears & trying not to imagine what happened.
"Goddamn it, Munson. Why didn't you go with Henderson..?" Steve quietly talked to himself, his voice was shaky & was cracking. He wished that he did go with Dustin. That he did survive, that he made it.
He wasn't really thinking about why the body was gone. Not even considering the fact that Eddie might be alive & living out here all alone. He did get the SOS signal though, didn't he?
But of course, he couldn't think straight. Not when he was in the spot where Eddie died. Not when he was where it all happened. It pained him. He wished that he could say goodbye to him. But they only exchanged maybe two words before they last saw each other.
Steve wanted to say more, he wanted to hug him, he wanted to say something. Just something. He was sobbing right there in the middle of this deadly dimension, not paying attention to his surroundings.
Steve wiped his tears & stood up. Maybe he came here for absolutely nothing. Though, a low growl was heard from behind. He thought that he was going to die right there.
Maybe then he would be with Eddie.
Steve turned around, but the figure was gone. What the hell even was that? He decided to investigate even further & started walking around the upside down as if it was a safe place to stay.
He couldn't find anything besides random demobats flying in the sky & demodogs running around. Yeah, it was dangerous, but he didn't care about that right now.
He wanted to know what it was that he heard, that was behind him. He needed to know. But, he ended up getting lost in the woods. He started to panic, running around & frantically looking around.
Steve gave up soon enough. After running for what felt like forever, his muscles burned & he could barely breathe. Everything hurt. He thought he couldn't go on any longer, deciding that maybe he should just let himself slowly die here.
He sat down by a tree, his eyes darting around & tracing the vines that were all around the dimension. He felt so lonely. Nothing felt right. He never got to say goodbye to anyone. He never ever did. Not even Eddie.
Now that he was close to dying, he hadn't gotten the chance to say goodbye to his friends. Steve slowly stood up & starting to walk around the woods again, humming songs to himself.
He heard footsteps following behind him & he stopped in his tracks. "Hello?" He called out. As he expected, there was no response at all. Only that same low growl.
"Who are you & why the hell are you following me?" Steve asked, as if the monster understood him or knew how to respond to him. God, he was so stupid. "Show yourself, asshole!" He shouted.
The only thing he heard was the distorted echo of his voice through the woods. But then, the next thing he knew, he was being pinned up against a tree & choked.
He struggled to breathe, trying to kick off whatever the creature was. He couldn't get a good look, but it had red eyes & a bloody face, huge wings coming from it's back too.
It's mouth slowly opened, making its way to bite Steve's neck. Steve kept trying to punch or kick it off, but it was way too strong. Suddenly it stopped, it's wings folding & looking smaller. It's fangs disappeared, eyes becoming a dark brown. It's hand left Steve's neck & Steve started to cough, gasping for air. It backed away, looking at Steve horrified.
"Harrington..?"
