April 7th, Monday, 1986. Steve Harrington's House.
8:09 AM.Steve was in his bathroom after Eddie, brushing his teeth & washing his face. Eddie was laying back in Steve's bed after doing all of that stuff & probably fast asleep again.
The younger boy came out from the bathroom, only to see an empty bed. His eyes widened, "Shit!" He ran downstairs & saw Robin & Dustin at the dining table.
"You look better today, dingus." Robin said with a smile. Steve only nodded. "Uhm, yeah." He started to look up at the ceiling randomly, confusing the both of them.
Dustin leaned over to Robin's ear, whispering, "What's he doing?" Robin only shrugged. Steve went back upstairs without a word & looked in the guest rooms where Dustin & Robin stayed.
He found Eddie in Dustin's room & sighed in relief. "Dude, be careful! I told you nobody can know." Steve said as he walked towards Eddie who was sitting in the corner of Dustin's room.
"I was bored, okay?" Eddie rolled his eyes. "Well, warn me when you're walking around the house. Kay?" Steve asked of him, his hands on his hips as he looked down at Eddie.
A dumb smile grew on the vampire's face. "Fine, mom." Steve scowled & helped him up, Eddie all of a sudden wrapping his arms around Steve & hugging him.
"I saw you kept my vest, Harrington." Eddie teased a little in a low voice, his hands trailing down to the other's hips. Steve kept his hands on Eddie's shoulders, a bit taken aback.
Steve noticed Eddie's skin becoming a little more pale. "You smell real good, big boy." Eddie randomly commented. Steve's face grew hot. "W-What?"
Eddie's eyes slowly turned red, his fangs appearing. His wings folded open, making him look like a bigger terrifying monster. He really wanted something right now & felt quite hungry.
He then felt a sudden pain in his neck & flinched, gripping Eddie's shoulders. "Eddie, what the fuck!" Steve said, feeling a bit light headed. Eddie was only busy licking & sucking on the bite, getting blood from it.
Eddie suddenly stopped, frozen in place as his pointy elf-like ears lowered. He backed away from Steve & started to apologize repeatedly. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry- I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry-"
Steve cut him off. "Hey, hey! It's fine. Just warn me next time maybe?" Eddie quickly nodded, his skin now less pale. "Come on, go into my room. I'll bring you some food. I mean- if you can even eat any human food anymore."
Eddie only shrugged. "We can test that out today." Steve nodded & went downstairs, Eddie walking into Steve's room & shutting himself inside. Steve went back downstairs only to see Dustin in tears.
Oh shit.
Robin was hugging the boy, rubbing his back & calming him down. She was crying a bit too. "Hey, hey. What's going on?" Steve asked in a soft & quiet voice, walking towards them.
"He feels guilty he couldn't do anything about..it." Robin said. Steve's facial expression softened. "Henderson, come on. It wasn't your fault. He just wanted to buy us more time." He said as he sat down.
Dustin nodded, still sobbing. He managed to get out a few words. "I know- I just- I wish I could s-save him..It's not fair!" Steve pulled him into a hug. "Nothing's fair, Henderson. Life doesn't always..go our way." Steve sighed.
The younger boy wiped his tears & sniffled, gripping a tissue in his hand. Steve stood up & grabbed some breakfast for himself & Eddie. He looked over at Dustin.
"Hey. If you ever need to vent or- need anything really, I'm here & so is Robin. Okay?" He said, giving Dustin a soft smile. Dustin nodded, "Yeah, okay." Robin pat him on the back & stood up as Steve microwaved the food.
Once the food was warm, Steve took the plates upstairs. He lightly kicked the door open & set the food down onto the bed with silverware. Eddie just looked up at him in a weird way.
To him, the food didn't look so filling. He picked up the fork & started poking at it. Meanwhile, Steve was absolutely devouring his food. He hadn't eaten for a week & now that he knew Eddie was okay, he didn't feel sick to his stomach.
He felt fine. He felt like he could be, 'normal,' again like he used to. Eddie started eating little by little. Again, it wasn't that filling. The only thing that was filling was blood. Of course.
The guy was a vampire, what else would you expect?
After a few minutes, Steve heard Robin yell from downstairs all of a sudden. "Hey, Steve! Thanks for letting us stay for so long but we're gonna go home, okay?!" She yelled out. Steve's eyebrows furrowed, his heart dropping.
He set his plate down & before Eddie could even say anything he rushed downstairs. He saw the two with their bags & everything in their hands. "You guys are..are leaving?"
Robin nodded with a weak smile. Steve felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. He still wasn't okay even though he knew that Eddie was alive. He wasn't fully recovered.
"W-Why?" He randomly asked, his voice cracking a bit. Dustin then said, "We're your friends, Steve! We'll still see you, don't worry. We'll always visit you, you know that, right?" Steve only slightly nodded.
The two of them set their bags down & pulled Steve into a group hug, standing there together in each other's arms. The oldest shed maybe a few tears, but that was it.
He was so used to having these two living with him for a week. It felt normal to him. It felt like home. He didn't want them leaving now. But he couldn't change their minds.
They had their own homes. They pulled away & Steve wiped his tears, giving the two a forced smile. He walked them out of the house as Dustin hopped onto his bike, Robin just deciding to walk.
Steve went inside & back upstairs into his room. He saw Eddie still on the bed, still slowly eating his food. "If you're not hungry, I can just eat it for you, dude. Seriously." Steve said, placing his hands on his hips.
His voice sounded a bit nasally, making Eddie look at him weird. "Are you sick or something?" The vampire asked, taking another big bite. Steve furrowed his eyebrows.
"No! I was- Crying. Shut up, don't say anything." Steve said, sighing as he sat down on the edge of his big bed. Eddie rolled his eyes. "There's nothing wrong with crying, Harrington. I'm not gonna make fun of you for it."
Steve sat down, his eyebrows still knitted together as he pursed his lips. He picked at his fingers. "Eddie, do you- do you ever wish that someone was a girl..?" He quietly asked.
Eddie looked up at him, confused. He didn't really hear Steve right. Steve continued, "I just think that Robin isn't actually crazy. I'm starting to think that she's actually right about some things." His heart was aching just talking to Eddie about this. Why was he even dumping this on him?
Eddie only tilted his head in confusion. Tears stung Steve's eyes for the second time today. He looked at Eddie with his glossy eyes & tried to speak, but didn't get much out.
"I'm scared." Steve admitted.
"Woah, woah! What are you so scared about, Harrington? Talk to me, man. I'm right here." Eddie said as he set his plate aside & scooted closer to Steve. Steve stayed silent for a bit.
He finally spoke again. "I'm scared that I'm gonna be beat. I'm gonna be killed if I even told anyone how I actually feel." He whispered. Eddie's facial expression softened.
"Why would you ever think that?" Eddie asked. Steve shook his head. "You don't get it, do you?" He randomly said, picking at the skin of his fingers again. Eddie only stared.
"I wish that he was a girl, Munson."
"Oh.."
