Chapter 1: fowl beast lurking in the dark

The only thing that could be heard from the fading light as darkness began to fill the land around the two siblings was the crinkling of leaves and the occasional twig snapping. The birds singing had faded, the annoying buzz of bugs was gone and certainty no sign of other humans on the trail at this hour.  Indigo will admit she missed those things she found annoying during the day, mostly the bugs, the bugs were annoying. Her eyes anxiously darted around trying to find a speck of sunlight, the moonlight was the only thing providing some sense of safety but even the moon seemed scared as it was hidden behind the treetops.  Jasper looked over sensing his sister's panic "we aren't far from home we will be fine." he spoke to her in a calming gentle tone at an attempt to calm her, but he wasn't very fond of the night as well, he felt a small sense of vague panic as well. "But what about the demons!" Indigo whispered as if she had just said the dark lord's name out loud. 'Oh right those fairy tales the elder told us.' Jasper thought. The two had been out on a walk at the near by village to cease their boredom. The elders had stopped them to tell a few stories and told horrific stories about man eating demons.  The elders had ended up keeping them longer for story time then intended as it was now night. He could understand his sister's panic but of course they were just the old myth that every now had, right? "Indigo. Those were a fairy tale, an old myth. The all great and evil demon king isn't going to eat your toes if you don't cover your feet with the blanket." Jasper joked at the end earning a laugh from Indigo. "They eat humans they probably would!" Indigo said laughing.

They stopped when they noticed that they had reached their house. "well would you look at that. No toes have been eaten and we are safely-" Jasper's amused grin soon faded as he noticed the door was creaked, a red liquid gradually flowed at the door. A sound of tearing and bones cracking was heard from inside their house. Indigo eyes widened in terror as she stared at the door, freezing up. Jasper stared at the door in pure denial also frozen in place. The two dared not to take a step forward well that was until they heard a weak "h-help s-someone" from inside their house. Their little sister was alive! The two quickly snapped out of the trace and threw open the door, nearly breaking it off it's hinges they swear they heard a crack from the door but there wasn't time for that. The sight they were met with was horrific, new blood was splattered on the floor, the walls even the ceiling, their family members bite marks, teared flesh, their stomachs were cut open. Some of the organs weren't even eaten. Their lifeless eyes stared at them in a haunting manner. Their little sister being among those eyes then they heard it "h-help m-me!" a croaked voice sobbed before it turned into an evil crackle. The two turned around almost instantly and they saw a demon with it's head tilted mocking their family's voices. It suddnely lunged at Indigo who quickly jumped out of the way, stumbling. Jasper took a swing at it, his wrist was caught the nails of the demon sharply digging into his skin. "OW!" and a long string of cusses followed. Indigo grabbed a random chair and brought it down onto the demon's head. She smirked as the demon let out a pained and angry grunt, but the injury that was just there, it healed! She was thrown back and the demon jumped at her. She put her leg at the demon's jaw, trying and failing to push it away as it's claws scratched and dug into anything to make her injuired. Jasper quickly hit it again, ignoring the pain in his wrist. The demon and him was in a fist fight that he was losing. Indigo quickly grabbed her brother and out they ran. The demon followed after but this attempt was to lose the demon as they clearly couldn't win. The demon's foot steps kept getting louder and louder by the second.  They heard a "D*mn brats!" before claws racked along  their back. Indigo fell down from pure surprise from the sudden shock and pain. The demon went for the kill as Indigo was down but before that the demon suddnely felt a kick where the moonlight doesn't shine. The demon eyes darted to Jasper with a newfound anger and attempted to slice his throat, Indigo had grabbed it's foot, trying to push it down. She was struggling before the demon's head suddenly fell off and there were two flashes. One pink and one white. They both turned around and-

Pillow secrets:  

-The demon wasn't actually fully trying until they actually made a run for it and when it sensed there was demon slayers near by

-the demon mocked the little sister's voice because it didn't feel like actually going out there to get them

-the door did in fact crack when the two swinged the door open

-Indigo is afraid of the dark but was more in a panic that they were late because of the stories
