Chapter 1 - A Party to Remember

Lily Potter was sitting in their enormous living room. It was nicely decorated with balloons and girlands for her birthday party. She insisted on just having a dinner, but her mother rather threw a party. Being Harry and Ginny Potter's only daughter had its benefits. They absolutely adored Lily and her older brothers.

"Make a pose, sweetheart!" her dad said from behind the camera. She crossed her legs, smiling. Click!

"Perfect. Now stand up ... James, move the chair, please!" Her brother stepped in front of the chair and removed it from the scene. "Great. Another one Lily!" She was posing and posing and posing. But she never got tired from it, because she thought it was really fun. Especially with her dad being the photographer.

"Okay, we're done now."

"Thanks daddy! Now let me see the photos." She was so excited. The pictures were perfect, but they weren't moving. It was a muggle camera. The Potters always combined taking photos with wizard and with muggle cameras.

"You're beautiful, honey." He planted a kiss on her forehead and she smiled in return. Everybody knew she was her daddy's girl. Including her friends at Hogwarts. She was pretty popular there. Not only because of her dad, she was very caring and always loved making new friends. So if you think of that in another way, she was some sort of advice machine. Literally. At the end of the last school year, she started dating Leon Thomas. He was in Gryffindor too, just like Lily and James. They realized there was something between them because of his sister Jane, who was also a Gryffindor and Lily's best friend. He was a year older than his sister and Lily. They were coming to her birthday party including her second best friend Ethilena and her one year older twin brothers Lorcan and Lysander, who both had a thing for Lily. The three girls share everything with each other and are inseparable since the girls met Jane on their first day of school. Ethilena knew Lily since she was born, her mom Luna being Lily's godmother, but she unfortunately got sorted into Ravenclaw, just like Lysander. They still spend most of their free time together though. There are also all Lily's cousins coming to the party and some other girls and boys from Hogwarts, mostly her, Albus's or James's schoolmates.

"Ah, this itches a lot." She murmured to myself, while walking down the stairs in the dress she was wearing. She felt like professor Longbottom in his young years with this dress, because she was so clumsy. She couldn't take it any longer and scratched her eyes. When she looked at her hands, she gasped. She had makeup all over her fingers. Lily went to the kitchen as quickly as she could.

"Mom!" Her voice was full of panic.

"Lily, what did you do?!" she asked when she turned around. She glanced at her reflection in the window.

"Damn it, I look like a panda!"

"Language, young lady! And yes you do remind of this certain animal ..."

"Thanks a lot, mom." she growled.

"Come here, I'll fix you." She took her wand and started to move it slowly across Lily's eyes while murmuring something under her breath. "Okay, done. Now sit down and talk to me. I'm afraid James and Albus would only try to prank you. Well, mostly James, but still, I think you should stay here."

"What about dad?"

"He has to go to the Ministry, Shacklebolt needs his help with something. But don't worry," she quickly said as she saw the look of disappointment crossing her daughter's face. "he might be a little late, but he'll come to the party." Lily nodded and smiled.
