Chapter 5: Albus's Nightmares

As Lily was running down the stairs, she felt like she's been disappointing everyone lately. Her parents, brothers, Jane, her boyfriend and ... even Scorpius. Who didn't really mean a lot to her anyway. At least that's what she's been telling herself. She looked of him as a friend and nothing more. While he wanted to be everything but her friend.

She first popped her head into the dinning room, where her parents and one of her brothers were, talking. She gulped loudly, motioning for Albus to come with her. As he told her James was in the living room, they didn't notice their parents follow them after a few moments of silence.

As Lily and Albus saw the scene in front of them, their mouths dropped. James was snogging Jane! Her brother. Snogging her best friend. Oh hell, she would sure have nightmares about those two.

"What the fuck?!" she squealed, jumping up and down. She clasped her hand over her mouth then, realizing the mistake she's just made. Her brother and best friend jumped apart, both of them wiping their mouths. Great, just great. Were they even teasing her after what she saw? Luckily their parents didn't see nor hear anything, so Lily tried to pretend that nothing happened and rather turned her attention towards both of her brothers. But her mind kept wandering back to the scene she never wished to see again and she shook her head a few times to push it out of her vision. She rather started to think about cookies. Yes, cookies! They would make no harm to her mind. As she was able to focus again, she turned her attention towards her brothers again, glancing at her parents meanwhile.

"Okay, first you have to understand, that you wouldn't hear me talking to you for another year or more, if it wasn't for Scorpius. He made me realize ... family was ... family after all. And he also told me I was very lucky to have you two idiots." Her mom let out a disapproving sound. "Sorry. To have you guys. He also said that I should be ashamed of myself for a behavior like that towards you two and he was right. But you should be ashamed too, after all you kept that murder from me-"

"AND THAT WAS THE ONLY RIGHT THING TO DO! YOU-"

"Ginny! ... Let her speak." her father stepped in, before her mother could start lecturing all of them.

"Thanks daddy. What was I saying? Oh, the mur... that thing. I know you just obeyed mom and dad, but it hurt me, that you didn't trust me. Not just you guys, even my own parents. Do you really think I'm such a softie?" she whispered in hurt.

"No, sweetie, of course you're not. But you're the youngest and-"

"Oh, so I'm a coward if I'm the youngest!"

"What your father was trying to say," her mother spoke in a warning tone. "is that we don't want you to experience the horror we had. Those times were terrible and the murdered man, the Death Eater ... I just hope there isn't anything big behind this. I couldn't see you get hurt, children." That's when she burst into tears. Lily, her brothers and Jane watched her in shock, while Harry quickly embraced his sobbing wife, smiling sadly at the children like he was trying to apologize for some kind of inappropriate behavior. But Lily stepped closer and put her arms around her mom, leaning her head on her back. Another pair of arms joined their embrace and she saw Jane. She would talk to her later. Their brothers joined too, both of them caressing Lily's back softly. She was now glad she forgave them. But she still had to apologize to Scorpius. Poor guy, where did he go, anyway? That's when she heard footsteps in the hallway, she knew he was coming there. Maybe he heard her mom yell. She was right. He opened the doors loudly, making them all slightly jump.

"Well hello, wha... Oh, mrs Potter, are you alright?" he asked worriedly, glancing in Lily's way too. But Ginny just smiled inbetween the tears, motioning him to come closer, then pulled him in their group hug. He was trapped between Ginny and Harry, while Lily quickly put an arm around his waist, so he wouldn't get away and his body tensed. A few moments later his arm snaked itself around her waist protectively, his fingers slightly pulling up the shirt she was wearing. She thought that would be the sign he forgave her, but as she felt him dig his fingers more and more into her waist, she wasn't so sure about that.
