A Malevolent Rebirth: A D&D Story

The champion nearest the casters spins to greet the charging guard, he rams his spiked pauldrons into the chest of the young woman, and without a sound, she goes flying into the wall of a nearby building. Splattering against it with a horrid mixture of crunching and sloshing.

It then sprints at Zasheida and swings toward the yuan-ti's neck. Zasheida moves her head to dodge, but the champion corrects the angle of the strike and slams into her side, she rolls across the ground and crashes through a stack of crates.

The champion beside Gronk golf swings its axe into the goliath's abdomen and sends Gronk crashing through the window of a shop, he then spins to Errich. The halfling crouches low to dodge the horizontal swipe but is caught by a heavy boot that launches him a few feet straight off the ground. He vomits up blood and bile, then the boot comes down on his back and crushes him into the sand. Errich doesn't move after that.

Arwin weaves his hands at unnatural angles and bites the corner of his lip.

"We need more bodies."

From a whirlwind of fire, a stocky flaming humanoid form adorned in armor and wielding a battleaxe sprints toward the Champion that just finished off Errich. Its weapon imbued with flames slips through a gap in the champion's armor and digs in, before burning some of the flesh.

Arwin shouts.

"I've conjured an azer, it's a minor fire elemental. But it can buy you all time, focus on one at a time. They're too tough to bring down in small groups."

Hershel shoots an arrow into the back of the champion beside Zasheida, the small wooden projectile shatters against the armor and Hershel spits out a string of curses.

Grym charges forward trying to tackle the champion attacking his closest friend, but barely manages to move the large lizard a foot, before losing momentum. He bites into its shoulder but gets a mouthful of spiked armor.

Alain's spectral shield slams into the leg of the champion fighting Grym, causing a small amount of blood to trickle from beneath the armor.

Alain himself slides toward the champion fighting Gronk and brings his mace into the back of its knee dealing little to no damage as it clangs against metal.

Zavari sends another bolt of fire into the face of the lizard, burning part of its scaled face, and causing it to hiss in what appears to be annoyance. She then pulls out a small healing potion and drinks it, partially sealing the wound she just acquired when running.

Zasheida pulls out a small pearl and drains the magic from it, then places it back in her back and also drinks a small potion of healing.

Gronk leaps through the open window and lands three mighty strikes on the champion's chest, each hit pushing the large warrior back a few inches. A bit of blood seeps from its mouth as it coughs, but it shows no signs of pain.

The champion slams its axe into the large bear, causing Grym to lose his wild shape. The remaining damage from the impact causes Grym to tumble across the sand. It then spins around and slams the axe downward, kicking up sand from the force and just missing Zasheida.

The other champion facing off against Gronk and Alain spins and backhands Alain, close lining him and causing him to violently fall back headfirst onto the sand. Then with the momentum, bringing the axe around and slamming it into Gronk's side. The goliath winces and blood seeps onto the edge of the axe, splattering across the sand as it's pulled free.

Thokk's bleeding grows heavier, and Errich's breathing more ragged. They aren't doing well.

Arwin sends a trio of arcane missiles that pelt the back of the champion fighting Gronk. Then thinks to himself as he prepares to do so again.
