Clove's POV
6 months later
It's been six months since the incident, and life is good, really good, actually. I have gone back to work full-time and all of my injuries are completely healed with no lasting effects. Grease and Amber had their dream wedding a couple of months ago and now are happily married.
Everything is perfect.
At least I thought it was.
But lately, Wolf has been acting weird, not coming home until late at night and always being covered in sweat. Honestly, all the guys have been kinda weird lately. I assumed it was club business, but he always told me about that.
"Come and sit down, I'm going to paint your nails," Amber says as we are all hanging out in the bar. Wolf, Skillet, and Grease are handling something work-related, which is weird because Grease isn't even a bounty hunter.
"Why?" I ask. I don't really keep up with my nails and it's the last thing I want to do on my day off.
"Because you work too much and we can all see how tired you are, so let us pamper you," Grace scolds as she brings out a heated, portal foot bath.
"You will get no arguments from me as long as my feet can stay in that thing til they fall off," I laugh. It's actually really sweet they wanted to do this for me.
As Amber is working on my nails, Grace starts working on my hair. Surprisingly, it has already grown to my chin and I now have the same stacked bob I had before somebody ruined it.
The rest of the boys are also down in the bar laughing with us, but something feels different. Like everybody is on edge for some reason. I really hope Wolf isn't keeping something from me that could concern my safety. Frankly, I hope my safety isn't at risk. I can't handle that again.
"Okay you're all set," Amber smiles as she finishes painting my fingernails and toenails.
"Hair, too," Grace smiles, "you actually look human now."
"I guess I have been working a lot lately," I sigh, "but I'm not the only one, I have barely seen Wolf this week."
"We just had some work stuff come up. Everybody and their mother missed their court date last week," Bear chimes in.
"I guess," I respond, "I know he told me he was working today but he's with Grease. Since when is Grease a bounty hunter?" I watch everybody's face grow pale and a knot forms in my stomach. What the fuck is going on.
"Since we got his hospital bill. It's a lot, like A LOT. So he's been helping Wolf with the bondsman business and Driver with the gym. Smoke won't let him near the tattoo shop though," Amber pipes in.
"No way," Smoke laughs, "What is he gonna tattoo on people? A stick figure?" I laugh in response as the knot in my stomach disappears. I should've thought about the hospital bill as I am sure it is an obscene amount with way too many zeros.
After a couple of hours of hanging out in the bar, Luna starts barking and I check my watch. It's time for her walk and she knows it. She has quickly become the 'clubhouse dog' since we moved in all those months ago.
