Chapter 2

Saturday

Kayla grabbed an oversized sweatshirt, her black converse, and her backpack. She waved bye to her parents and set off towards the melting pot. (the melting pot is a made up restaurant btw)

Hey Juli I'm on the way!

Juli💖
Ok. Wait did you just call me
Juli?
                                                           Kayla
                     Yea I did. It's my nickname
                            for you. Do you like it?
Juli💖
Yea I love it but now
I gotta think of one
for you!
                                                           Kayla
                             Ok well I'm here so I'll
                                    save a table for us.

Kayla opened the door and was greeted by a waitress.

"Table for one?" The waitress asked.

"Actually for 2." Kayla said to the waitress.

"Ooh a date?" The waitress said grinning

"No just working on a science project." Kayla said while blushing slightly.

"Oh ok then right this way." The waitress said while grabbing 2 menus and leading Kayla to the table.

Kayla sat down and opened her backpack to get out her science notebook.

"Would you like me to grab you something to drink?" The waitress asked.

"Just water will be fine thanks." Kayla said smiling at the waitress

"Ok I'll go get that for you I'll be right back." The waitress smiled while walking away.

                  Ok great! I'm at the 4th table
                                                       outside.

Alright.

Juliana walked up to the fourth table
and noticed Kayla back was turned so she couldn't see Juliana and she was scrolling through social media while sipping her water. She decided to try to scare Kayla.

Juliana sneaked up behind Kayla and grabbed her shoulders and yelled "Boo!" Kayla jumped and ended up inhaling her drink and coughing

"Jesus" Kayla said while wiping the water off her phone. Juliana started laughing while proceeding to sit on the opposite side of the table.

"Alright we should get started" Juliana said while taking out her computer

"Yea." Kayla said while throwing away the napkins she used to wipe up the water. "Why did you wanna choose vampires for our project exactly?" Kayla asked curiously.

"Oh I-uhm.." Juliana tried to find the right words. She didn't wanna end up spilling the beans and revealing herself. After a few seconds she found the right words. "Well I'm really interested in vampires and I've done a lot of research about them before so I thought it would be cool to do a project about them."

"Oh wow that's actually pretty cool! I'm really glad to have a partner who will actually help with the project." Kayla laughed while thinking about Micah. He would either be sleeping or on his phone the entire project and Kayla would end up doing the entire project.

"Haha yea. Here I have some pretty cool websites we can check out for the project." Juliana said while turning her computer on.

2 hours later

"Alrighty I think we have enough information now so we can start the project part whenever." Kayla said while putting her pencil down and grabbing a French fry.

"Yea if you want we can head back to my house and start working?" Juliana asked Kayla.

"Yea sure let me text my mom and let her know I'm going to your house." Kayla said while taking her phone of her hoodie pocket.

"Alright my mom is cool with me going to your house." Kayla told Juliana while putting her phone back in her pocket.

The waitress came up to the table and asked "do you want anything else miss?"

"Uhm no, thanks!" Kayla said

"What about you miss no. 2?" The waitress asked.

Juliana tensed up and all she could think about was please don't know who I am please don't know who I am. Juliana snapped back to reality and said "oh u-uhm no thank you."

"Alright then." The waitress said while walking to another table.

"Uh that was weird. She stared at you like i don't know like you were some kinda fictional thing I don't know."

Juliana faked a laugh and responded with "yea kinda funny." Juliana looked down at her feet and Kayla seemed to notice something was wrong

"You ok?" She asked Juliana while reaching for her hand

Juliana looked at Kayla and nodded while taking the hand that was under Kaylas and putting it on her neck. "Yea I'm ok. Thank you. Let's go back to my house now."

Juliana stood up and put her stuff in her backpack and put her backpack on her shoulders. "Ok let's go." Juliana said while walking towards the door next to Kayla.

They were walking down the sidewalk when randomly Juliana said "I figured out your nickname."

"What is it?" Kayla asked

"Your nickname is KayKay." Juliana said confidently.

"Oh ok I like it." Kayla said while smiling at Juliana

"Alrighty we're here." Juliana said while pointing at her house.
