I swiped my time card, clocking into my shift at the nursing home. The one thing I liked about my job is that it was easy and fun.

All I had to do was entertain the elders by coloring or playing bingo or music. Just whatever they wanted to do since I worked in the activity room.

My favorite elder at this facility was Mr. Brown.

He was a crazy old black man and way too immature. But in a good way. He was a happy spirit. It sucks that he got so sick.

It just breaks my heart.

I walked into the activity room while I took my hairtie off of my wrist, putting my hair back in a ponytail so it would be out of the way.

"Hey Livy Baby," Mr. brown yelled for my attention from the piano.

"Hi Mr. Brown, how is your day going," I smiled at him before taking a seat next to him at the piano.

"It was dull until you got here," he smiled at me.

I laughed as I gave him a hug, "did your daughter and grandson come visit you today?"

Mr. Brown was excited lately because his daughter and his grandson were moving out here and he would finally be able to see them after three years.

Personally, if he was my grandfather I'd be booking flights to see him. But that's just me.

"Not yet, she's bringing him for dinner since he had school today," he explained.

"That's nice. Just make sure you watch your blood sugar," I told him.

He sighed, "you lecture me like your my wife!"

"Well, someone has to Mr. Brown," I laughed as I pressed a few keys on the piano.

"Play our song," he asked.

I nodded my head, putting both of my hands on the piano to playing his favorite song Cupid by 112 on the piano.

I never really played the song before but after listening to it all day and singing it with him, I learned to play it on the piano so I could play it for him.

He reminds me a lot of my moms father. Before he passed away I'd spend all the time I could with him, playing the piano and the guitar. Painting, fishing, just about everything.

While I played the song, Mr. Brown and I sang the song together.

"Cupid doesn't lie, but you won't know unless you give a try. True love won't lie , but you won't know unless you give it a try," I sang along with him.

"Daddy?" I turned around at the same time as Mr. Brown seeing Ski and a shorter dark skinned woman standing beside him.

Mr. Brown made quick work of getting up off the seat and pulling the both of them into a big hug, "I missed you guys so much."

I smiled as I watched the little family reunion.

"What are you doing here, Olivia?" Ski asked me.

"I work here, Mr. Brown is my best friend," I smiled at Mr. Brown as he sat back down next to me.

His daughter who he introduced as Monique, sat down next to him and ski sat in front of us in a chair.

"That's nice," Monique smiled at me. "How long have you worked here for?"

"Uhm I just started here In July so almost two months," I explained.

"What made you want to work here," ski asked me.

"I needed work, and they were hiring. Plus I love old people," I joked.

"Hey little missy, I'm younger than you," Mr. Brown nudged me.

I laughed, shaking my head, "let me go walk around and see everyone else and I'll be back alright?"

"Don't be long, sweetie," he rubbed my shoulder before I stood and walked away.
