Ace had an expression of shock painted on his face. Sabo let go of Luffy's shirt and the young boy tumbled into the room. "Ow, Sabo's acting like Ace now!!" Luffy whined. Only moments later the straw-hatted boy was sitting with a few bumps on his head and tears in his eyes. Sabo closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose in concentration. Both Ace and Luffy looked to the blond expectantly and finally, they received what they were waiting for.

"We leave at night, when we met X. I noticed a small boat on the side of the ship and we should be able to get onto it. Luffy will untie the boat and lower me and Ace down. Afterwards, Luffy will jump off and me and Ace will try our best to catch him and if he lands in the ocean, one of us will go save him. Wherever the sea guides us."

Ace and Luffy both blinked a few times before tilting their heads to the side in confusion. Sabo pulled his hat tighter on his head in frustration before sighing and looking to his brothers'. "Just follow my lead."

Suddenly the aura in the room grew dark. Ace and Sabo quickly looked to Luffy, their urge to protect him kicking in. Panic. Luffy's straw-hat had shadowed over his eyes and his mouth was set in a dull, neutral expression. Completely devoid of emotion.

"We are not the only ones headed to Heiwa island. Enemies seek the same land as us. We must be careful."

"Hm? Why are you staring at me like that? Sabo, Ace? I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING!!" Luffy shouted in a state of frenzy as his brothers stood in shock. It had happened once again. Sabo finally got his body to move and hugged Luffy tightly. It was as if he hadn't seen the boy in years. Who knew just a simple mood swing would impact him so much?

Ace strode over to the young boy and pinched his cheeks, making them stretch as Luffy complained. Ace glared at the boy. "I know you're in there, why now? Why Luffy?" Ace asked angrily as Sabo looked to him in confusion. Luffy shook his head and his cheeks retracted back to his face with a 'snap'!

The straw-hatted child had a tinge of red on his cheeks where Ace had pinched him but smiled none-the-less. "Ace, don't worry. I'll manage to explain it all soon but I can't right now so, wait a bit. Alright?"

Ace felt comforted by those words. He turned swiftly around as Sabo patted Luffy's head with a relieved smile. "Haaa~," sighed Sabo as he flopped onto his bed. "What do we do in the mean time?"

Ace and Luffy both shrugged at the same time.

"Seriously?" grumbled Sabo.

----this time skip was brought to you by Luffy's straw-hat----

"Hey, Saboo! Can we go yet?" Luffy whined as he tugged on the blond's arm.

Sabo's eye twitched in annoyance as he pulled his limb away from his brother. "Just a few minutes more Luffy," he replied, a tinge of annoyance lacing his voice. Ace was fiddling with the new ink bottle that was placed in the room after it was completely trashed by the boys. The freckled brother grumbled something under his breath before standing up abruptly.

"I'm ready to ditch this place already! Let's just go Sabo. It's already late enough!" Ace fumed as Sabo hummed in understanding. Ace paced around the room impatiently as Luffy followed behind him like an obedient dog. Copying Ace's exact steps and expression only slightly different. The two paced around the room as Sabo laughed quietly. The blond fixed his hat and stood up from his bed. "Let's go you two, I can't just sit around here with you wasting your energy on this."

Luffy jumped into the air in excitement and almost toppled into Ace who grit his teeth in anger. Sabo put a finger to his lips, indicating to his brothers to be quiet. The blond opened the door to the room carefully and pushed Luffy and Ace through roughly before beckoning them to follow him.

All three of the boys crept up the stairs and reached the deck of the ship. It was empty, the wind blew peacefully and the sea waves bumped against each other. Sabo, Ace and Luffy all silently wandered the deck of the ship. Recently they hadn't had time to admire the beauty of living on the sea. Ace was the first one to snap out of it and pulled Luffy by the ear to wake him up as well. At the same time, the freckled boy pulled on Sabo's cheek.

"Ouch!" whisper shouted Luffy with a pout as Ace just rolled his eyes. Sabo rubbed his cheek before his eyes focused on the small boat attached with ropes on the side of the ship.

"Let's go," he whispered. The boys reached the side of the ship until they heard a voice behind them.

"Who's there?!"

Luffy's eyes widened as he pushed his brothers into the ship and ducked into the shadows.

"Have you guys ever heard of haki? I sense you!"

A figure showed itself. Thatch appeared, holding a small lantern, his eyes searching every nook and cranny in his vision.

"Seems you do know about haki, you have hidden your presence well. Leave this ship and I'll spare you."

Luffy quietly coughed into his fist before clamping his mouth shut with his hand so his voice came out muffled.

"Very well. It was worth a try."

Luffy coughed into his fist again, making his voice seem deeper was hard on his throat. Thatch laughed good heartedly before turning around and walking off, a curious smile on his face. Luffy fixed his straw-hat and smiled at how he had tricked the Whitebeard pirate. Ace ruffled Luffy's hair with a proud smirk on his face as Sabo started working on the ropes that tied the boat to the ship. "Luffy, lower us down," the blond whispered as Luffy smiled widely and saluted.

The young boy lowered the boat without difficulty and looked over the ship. "You look so small!" he said as Ace gestured that he couldn't hear him. Luffy took a few steps back before running and leaping off the boat.

"Gah!" exclaimed Ace in surprise as Luffy landed right next to him and bounced into the air a few times before settling down.

"That was fun! Let me do it again!" the young boy said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. Ace hit him over the head, hoping to knock some sense into him. Sabo let the sails dance with the wind and sat back down. "I'll take first watch, get some sleep you two."

Luffy hummed in understanding before toppling over and beginning to snore softly. Ace looked toward Sabo with a look that said 'wake me up the moment you feel tired' before laying down next to Luffy and wrapping his arms around the young boy, protecting him from the cold of the winds. Sabo smiled softly and sat down close to his brothers. He felt ecstatic. He felt free. His adrenaline kept him up and the view of the ocean, sky and stars entertained him.

A few hours passed and Sabo's eyes were slowly drooping. The blond yawned and turned to wake Ace up. A cloth against his mouth prevented him from doing that. The boy tried to fight back yet it was useless. When Ace eventually woke up, the sun was high in the sky and the blond was no where to be seen.
