After the telling of the brothers' story, the sun was setting, its beautiful golden rays reflecting off the ocean, creating a marvellous scene. Fires were set up across the island, the scent of delicious food wafting through the air with the constant clinking of beer glasses as cheers resounded over the island. Luffy, Ace, and Sabo, all sat together with the Whitebeard pirates, especially close to Thatch and his team of cooks. Thatch made sure that the boys were kept satisfied before anyone else. "YUM!" said Luffy with a wide grin, inhaling another slab of meat, downing it all down with a glass of water before starting all over again.

"That's for sure," grumbled Ace, despite his displeased tone of voice, anybody could tell he was relishing in the taste of the food. Sabo was too busy stuffing himself to even participate in the conversation. Everything seemed peaceful again, food and drink, laughter, the crackling of fire. All was well. Whitebeard sat calmly in his chair, enjoying his meal as well with his commanders, Shanks, and Garp, in front of him. "I want the kids back."

Whitebeard paused his sake drinking, placing it down as he turned his gaze to Garp. The clink of forks and knives abruptly stopped in that small circle, the tension was palpable. Well, except for one person.

"That's stupid!" Shanks laughed, without a care in the world. He had evidently already drunk far more than he should have, but did he care? The frank answer is no, and everyone who knew him, knew that.

Garp kept his gaze on Whitebeard, determined, while Whitebeard matched it with a cold stare of his own. Marco's eyes lazily flitted between the two, though Thatch and Izo, who were on either side of him, could practically feel the waves of protectiveness radiating from him. Izo glanced at Thatch who glanced to Izo as well, they both shared a knowing smile before turning stoic again and focusing on the stare-down.

"Garp, you dare ask such foolish things when I have already shown great mercy to you by not engaging in battle when you arrived on the island?" Whitebeard's great voice boomed.

Garp furrowed his brows, clenching his fists. "They are my kids, Whitebeard, don't test the marines."

Suddenly Luffy barged into the conversation, latching on to Thatch. "Bread head! I want more food!" he whined, pouting. Garp and Whitebeard turned to the small child, Shanks burst into loud laughter. "Ah, anchor, your timing is amazing!" Shanks drunkenly slurred, lifting his bottle in cheers and his crew gladly lifted their glasses as well. Thatch lifted Luffy into his arms, smiling warmly. "You're a challenging customer to serve, kid," Thatch laughed, patting the boy on the head.

Luffy grinned back, giggling as he wrapped his rubber limbs multiple times around Thatch. "I want more food!"

Garp suddenly grabbed Luffy by the head, pulling the child towards him instead. Sabo and Ace quickly rushed over, it took them a moment to realize their brother was missing. Once they saw Luffy being held by the head by Garp, the brothers stood defiantly in front of their grandpa, eyes accusatory.

"Old man, the hell are you doing?" grumbled Ace, his eyes narrowed as Sabo nodded in agreement, the blond's head tilted down slightly to cast an ominous shadow over his face.

"You brats aren't safe here so I'm taking you with me," Garp replied sternly, holding Luffy closer to him, but it wasn't long before the rubber boy was whining and squirming as he had run out of food to gnaw on.

"Let me go, Grandpa!" Luffy shouted, his eyes screwed shut as he kicked and fought. Garp didn't even deign him with a response, still glaring at Whitebeard who was glaring right back.

"Vice Admiral Garp, you have no idea what power you are messing with," Whitebeard said warningly, his fists clenched and his body suddenly tense in his chair. Garp's mouth twisted into a frown and he tilted his head slightly to the side. "I could say the same to you."

"This is stupid! Why are you deciding what happens to us?" Sabo suddenly exclaimed, shocking most everyone there who knew Sabo as more calm and collected. The blond grabbed Ace and Luffy by their ears and dragged them towards him.

"Ouch!" whined both the black-haired boys before they were wrapped in Sabo's warm embrace, his arms around both of them protectively. "We all want freedom and if you will stand in our way, you will face the consequences," Sabo said ominously and the brothers quickly got the gist, their eyes turning dark and menacing.

"Promising..." murmured Thatch to Izo who smiled behind his fan.

"They could all possess...the Conqueror's Haki," Izo whispered back, chuckling at the new prospect of the young trio's talents. "They are all truly amazing..."

Whitebeard laughed heartily, admiring the young boys' passion and drive. "They are right Garp, let them decide who they wish to go with."

Garp was unhappy with this outcome of course, knowing the boys were idiots at heart and in their heads. "They are too young to decide for themselves!"

"We want to stay with Banana mustache man!" Luffy cried decidedly, turning to face his Grandfather, his eyes burning with confidence. "Grandpa, don't stop us."

Garp stayed silent.
