After their dinner date, Minho had convinced (more like begged) Jisung to stay the night in his place. He was just so determined about it that Jisung couldn't get himself to refuse the offer.
Once they arrived, Jisung gazed in awe at Minho's "luxurious" looking house. It wasn't so big and fancy, but its design was just outstanding.
I mean, he should've probably expected that since Minho worked in an architecture firm, after all. There was no way he'd allow his own house to look all crappy.
"Let's head inside," Minho said and took Jisung by the hand, leading him upstairs to his room. Just right in front of the bedroom door, three cats lay sleeping peacefully on the floor.
"Aww, they're so cute. I love them," Jisung whispered.
"I know right," Minho responded. "The one on the left with ginger stripes and white paws is Soonie. The gray striped one is Dori, and the orange one with a mix of white fur is Doongie."
Now that's a lot of information to process. How am I supposed to remember all of those? "Okay, I'll try my best to familiarize them."
They quietly slid past the sleeping creatures and entered the room, closing the door behind them while praying for it to not make that stupid creaking noise.
"Woah," Jisung breathed in awe as he watched the vicinity. Minho's room design really showcased his love for astronomy.
He had a bookshelf filled with nothing else but space related reading materials, had pictures of the galaxy framed on his walls, and even his lamp was in the shape of the moon.
And another thing that caught Jisung's attention was the telescope that stood near the large sliding glass door that led toward the balcony.
Until now, he never understood why Minho liked the moon and the stars so much; space as a whole, really.
He thought they were nice to look at but nothing beyond that; he didn't have an interest in the planets, he couldn't care less for the constellations, and he didn't know anything about the zodiac signs.
"Would you like to try using the telescope?" Minho said, finally breaking the long silence. "It's my favorite night time activity."
"Sure." It was a chilly night, and it seemed as if the clear sky was inviting Jisung to look at the stars and finally understand Minho.
He watched as Minho changed the lens of the telescope. "This will increase the focal length by 2400 millimeters." he explained, and Jisung nodded even if he was still processing what that meant.
Minho felt the need to explain it simply as he watched Jisung look like a clueless puppy by the way he was slowly nodding his head.
"It basically allows you to see small things in a larger image. Why don't you go ahead and see for yourself?"
Jisung had one eye to the telescope, and while gazing through it , he discovered a shooting star in the distance.
Oh, the way he giggled at the spectacle. The way Minho watched him as he laughed—warm and affectionate.
There was something haunting yet calming in the light of the moon that had managed to take Jisung to the valley of astonishment.
Why is this thing so beautiful? It was a revelation of awe and amazement. He wasn't able to describe the feeling.
The treasured silence and the vastness of the star-filled sky brought reverence and awe to his heart.
He stayed like that for hours. Watching the night sky through the telescope, not noticing that it was way past midnight already.
✎ To be continued...
I used to have a telescope before and I would spend almost half an hour watching the sky for any aliens and spaceships BAHAHAHAHAH.
Useless note: I was struggling on writing the descriptions for Minho's cats lmao. Tbh, I still have a hard time remembering their names and faces. (Especially Doongie and Soonie)
Also, I wanted to continue this chapter and write more, but my eyes are literally closing while I'm typing words.
