A few days later, everyone was at school besides Nancy and Johnathan. They were taking a few days off considering what happened. At lunch, the group of sophomores decided to eat lunch behind the school where no one would be and they could just talk alone. They weren't really allowed to do this, but no one ever checked to see if anyone was back there so they did it quite often.

"I'm bored let's play truth or dare," Mike says. "Bruhh no that's so boring if you're bored find a better game to play." "Max you just don't like it because you don't like admitting things or doing the dares you get" Mike huffs at her. Max just rolls her eyes annoyed. Mike speaks up again, "Okay let's play who's going first?" "Mike, don't you think we should play something max wants to play too-" Lucas was cut off. "No it's fine I'll play," Max says cause she knew everyone else wanted to play truth or dare.

They start playing the game. "El truth or dare?" Dustin says after hesitating on who to pick for what felt like 5 years for the others. "Uhh dare" El replies back. "Okay, I dare you to..." Dustin looks around for a second trying to see if he can think of a dare. He smirks, "I dare you to not kiss Mike for the rest of the day." He says excitedly, mostly for the fact that he will be able to walk up to his friends and ask them a question if he needed to and not have to turn back around and ask later cause they were making out by their lockers, but also to see their reactions. "WHAT?" Mike shouts loud enough for the entire world to hear him. "Mike shut the fuck up we aren't even supposed to be here!" Will whisper shouted. Mike ignored Will and turned to El "don't do that dare, I'm bored of this game let's play something else. Max rolls her eyes and went on a rant "Mike I swear to god I'm gonna hurt you. It's literally just a game you can go another like 7 hours without kissing your girlfriend. Like jeez, I can see why Hopper hates you so much if I was El's mom and she was dating you I'd hate you too-" she was cut off by Lucas like she cut him off earlier. "Max..." Lucas said as he rubbed her back a little for a second. They had gotten a little closer recently. Dustin, El, and Will looked at each other and smirked. Mike just sat there confused about what was going on.

Will decide to start talking before Mike would start asking weird or questions with obvious answers. "Max it's your turn. Truth or dare" Will said fast. "Uh... truth," she said hesitantly. "Okay, would you ever make out with Lucas?" Max was horrified. She had no desire to answer this question although she knew the answer immediately. "Or you know, do more" Mike said with a smirk on his face. Max's face turned crimson red shocked Mike would even ask this. "Mike what the hell is wrong with you!!" She yelled. Lucas was terrified as well, avoiding eye contact with everyone. "Come onn just answer the question," Dustin said impatiently. El spoke up agreeing with Dustin. "I'm not answering that question you guys are insane!!!" max screamed. after a while they finally got Max to answer the question. "Well... I mean uhm..." "just say it!!" el shouts getting impatient. "okay okay!! well uhm yeah... okay now we're moving on and not talking about it at all!" Max explained strictly so it wouldn't be a topic forever. Lucas assumed it was to not hurt his feelings, but he had no idea what was going on inside her head.

After the bell rang telling the students to get to their next period they all threw away their trash and then left. But unfortunately for Lucas and Max, their next period was with only each other and they sat next to each other. They ignored what happened at lunch, but it was awkward the entire time and Max didn't want it to be like that between her and Lucas.

After school was over, she was running around looking for him, not wanting him to already have left. Finally, she found him outside by his bike. "Lucas!!" she called out and ran over to him breathing heavily. Lucas laughs, "why are you so out of breath?" he questions. "I just ran around looking for you for so long... anyway can we talk about what happened at lunch?" Lucas stayed quiet for a second then answered. "sure... you wanna come over and talk about it?" "why not," Max said with a smile.

Once they got to Lucas' house, Max greeted his mom and then Erica who was sitting on the couch watching tv. They then went upstairs to Lucas' room. "I like your room" Max complimented looking at him. "Thanks... so you wanted to talk about what happened at lunch...?"
"Yeah... I'm just sorry that Will and Mike asked that question and can we just forget about it because it was like really awkward in 5th period and-" "Max it's okay. don't apologize for will and mike. we can just forget about it. but I have to know... we're you telling the truth?" "uhm... yeah... would you?" max asks referring to Will and Mike's earlier questions. "Yeah... I would..." Lucas said a little less nervous that she admitted it again. They stared at each other for a little while until Max broke the silence. "uhm do you wanna watch a movie?" "sure" Lucas said with a smile.

Later after Max left Lucas was downstairs looking for something to eat. "I like your girlfriend" he hears his mom say. "Mom what are you talking about?" "Max. I like her she's sweet." Lucas got extremely red. "Mom... she's not my girlfriend she's just a friend. Where did you hear that from?" "Boy, you must not know something then because you both act like your together." Lucas was very confused. "What do you mean? we just started getting closer like a day ago." "you both fell asleep on your bed watching a movie and it looked like you were pretty close to me" she shrugged and walked away. Lucas just shook his head and went back upstairs to his room.
