Max and Lucas had fallen asleep watching the movie. Lucas woke up and it was pretty much fully dark outside. He looked at the time on max's bedside clock and it was 7:30 pm. He realized he had to go home and tried to get up without waking Max. Lucas failed but it wasn't a surprise since they were wrapped around each other.

Max opened her eyes slowly and stared at Lucas for a few seconds. "Where are you going?" She asked in a soft voice. "It's already 7:30" Lucas pointed at the clock. "I have to go home" he matched Max's soft voice. "Oh well let me walk you home" Max replied while sitting up on her bed. "Absolutely not it's already dark out and you would be walking back home by yourself." Lucas would be too worried about her if she walked home alone especially since she's a girl. "Lucasss it's not even fully dark out yet come on please I don't want you to walk by yourself either" Max fought back. She knew that it probably wouldn't be a good idea to walk alone but she hated when Lucas left. She loved being around him and spending time with him. "It's okay just go back to sleep" Lucas tried to convince her. "Lucasssss I won't be able to fall asleep again please just let me walk you home" Max knew if Lucas left and she tried to go back to sleep she would not be able to. "Okay fine. just this once."

Max closed her front door and they started walking in the direction of Lucas' house. They were walking pretty fast since the sun was going down quickly. "Did your mom tell you you had to be home at 7:30 pm?" Max questioned max. "Well she told me to be home at 6:00 pm but we were asleep" Lucas replied to her. "Oh shit, I'm sorry" Max felt bad that he would probably get in trouble because he got home way later than his mom said to be home. "Don't worry about it, it's not your fault" Lucas moved closer to Max. "Is she gonna be like, really mad?" "no it'll be okay." Max nodded and changed the topic "oh my gosh Christmas is in 6 days!" Lucas smiled at her "what is your family doing for Christmas eve?" "I don't think I'm doing anything because I'm pretty sure my brother is going to hang out with his friends and do whatever and my mom has to work." Lucas felt so bad for her. He hated that people had to work on holidays and not be with their families. "Why doesn't your brother stay with you?" Max looked at Lucas "I don't know because he thinks I'm boring I guess" she shrugged. "I don't think you're boring, I think you're very fun. I wouldn't hang out with people that I think are boring" They both laughed. "I'll talk to my mom and see if you can come over on Christmas eve? We're just having dinner" Lucas offered. "You really don't have to... I was just planning on watching a Christmas movie and eating snacks" she didn't want to get in their way or anything. "You shouldn't be alone though... please come?" "I'll think about it".

The walk from Max's trailer to Lucas' house was about 15 minutes so they were walking for a while. They were currently asking each other random questions. "Where do you want to live when you get older?" Max was asking Lucas a Question. "Hmmm, I don't know, maybe Oregon. I've heard it's pretty there." "Ooo I've heard that too. I think I'd want to live in Montana. I've also heard it's pretty there and that there's a lot of mountains."

Lucas was asking Max a question now. "Who's your favorite in the friend group?" He laughed. "Lucas!" "Oh come on just answer" Max couldn't choose between Lucas and El, she has a crush on Lucas and loves being around him, but El is her best friend. "Lucas you know I can't choose this... okay umm... you and El" she decided to just say both of their names, even though she knew he would still want her to choose just one. "No, you can only choose one." "Lucas I can't choose! you choose then." Lucas had already been thinking about who his favorite was. "you" He said soon after Max told him to pick his favorite from the friend group. "What... what about Dustin and Will and Mike?" Max was very shocked that he didn't respond with something like "okay you can choose two" but he picked her. Lucas replied soon after, "They're my friends but I like being around you more." "Really? You pick me?" "Yes!"

Soon after they arrived at Lucas' house and it was pitch black outside. "I don't think you should go home. It's too dark" Lucas said to Max. He was worried about her. "My mom said I had to come straight home after walking you though" Max wouldn't admit it, but she was also a little nervous about walking home this late, but she didn't want Lucas to worry about her. "it's okay I'll be fine I promise." Lucas still didn't like the thought of her walking alone but he let her.

Max had just said goodbye to Lucas and was walking down the sidewalk. Lucas was watching her for as long as he could see her just to make sure she's be okay. He Saw someone walking maybe about 15 feet behind her but he didn't want to take any chances so he went out and caught up to her. Max jumped "jeez you scared me what are you doing here?!" "Shh, there's someone behind us."
