Lucas' POV
I open my eyes to see that i'm laying in the middle of the street. It me takes a second to figure out what's going on. I slowly stand up and turn around. Everything comes back to me. There's a white van. Max is in that van. They took her. The van is just starting to leave and I start chasing it. I almost fell so many times because I just woke up from being knocked out but it didn't matter. I have to save max. After chasing the van for what felt like forever we arrived at a very dark and sketchy location. I stay quite far behind so no one will see me. I'm so nervous. I hope Max is okay. I see them drag Max from the back of the van into the building. She's unconscious. It took everything in me to stay back because i'm so worried about her. There was about 5 people and they were all men. They were wearing all black and had ski masks on. How you would typically imagine a kidnapper. I couldn't identify any of them, but I knew that figuring out who these people were would be the parties new investigation. Unless it was the killer that had been going around already. I had no clue at this point. After I was sure all of them had walked in the building I waited for about a minute before I walked in. The door was surprisingly unlocked. I probably should've waited longer, but I was too worried about Max.
It was so dark in the building. There was not a single light on. There was many hallways and corners, it felt like a maze. I was trying to be as quiet as possible. I finally found the kidnappers. They had Max with them still and she was still passed out. It's so hard seeing her like that. They talked about what to do with her then one of them took her into another hall going who knows where. I followed him as quietly as i could. He stopped at a door and threw max in the room then locked it after. Now I at least knew where she was. I was going to get her out of there one way or another. I just had to figure out how the hell I was going to do it.
Max's POV
"Max?" I heard whispered through the locked door only a few moments after I woke up. It was Lucas. I know his voice, it's him. "Lucas?!" I shouted back quietly. I was so happy to hear his voice, but I was also terrified. He shouldn't be here, It's not safe. "Max don't worry i'm going to get you out of here I promise just give me a minute to figure out how." This is really bad. What if someone sees him? "Lucas you can't be here! It's not safe!" I replied back to him. It's too risky. "Max i'm not leaving you here! are you crazy? who knows what they would do. I'm getting you out." I didn't reply after that because I knew he won already. He wasn't going to leave. "Max, do you have a bobby pin or something?" He asked. I could tell he was getting anxious, and he didn't know what to do. "Ummm no..." He didn't respond after that. Soon after, I heard the door handle rattling."Lucas...?" Suddenly the door flings open and I see Lucas standing there. "How did you get the door open?!" "I used my pocket knife" He comes over to me and grabs my hand and says "let's go!" We couldn't waste another second. We had to get out of there. Just as we were about to run we heard loud footsteps coming towards us. Lucas panicked and pulled us both back in the room. The door automatically locks when it's closed. we were so stuck now. I started crying again silently. We could still hear the footsteps. After we were positive he was gone, we hugged tighter and longer than ever. It felt amazing to be near him again, and to feel his touch. I couldn't explain how happy I was that he was okay. When we let go of our hug he wiped my tears and we sat there in the dark room together while holding hands.
